The Pony Club’s Chief Executive Announces She Will Step Down
The Pony Club’s Chief Executive, Judy Edwards, has announced that she will be stepping down at the end of March 2015.
Judy, a former Trustee of The Pony Club was appointed as Chief Executive in 2005. A well respected equestrian figure, Judy enjoyed a competitive career before creating Coppice Acres Show Jumping Arena at her home in Warwickshire where she acted as Show Director for 10 years.
A former member of the Executive Committee of British Show Jumping and the British Horse Society Council, Judy is also an F.E.I Show Jumping Judge and in 2009 was presented with the British Equestrian Writers Association Award for her Contribution to Equestrian Sport.
During her time as Chief Executive Judy has been instrumental in creating a professional and integrated office team at Stoneleigh, establishing an in-house IT, Press and Marketing Department and considerably raising the profile of the organization to its current standing as the respected youth arm of the British Equestrian Federation. After seeing The Pony Club through a change of Governance in 2008, Judy instigated the office move in 2009, marking the 80th Anniversary and ensuring the organization had room to grow.
“When I came into the office in 2005 to help out for a few months, I had no idea that ten years later I would still be heading up this wonderful and unique organization” comments Judy. “Where those ten years have gone I do not know, but suffice to say that I feel enormously privileged to have held office for so long and to have been so well supported by the great team here at Stoneleigh, the members of The Pony Club Equestrian Council and Committees both past and present, the myriad of volunteers who make The Pony Club what it is and everyone outside of The Pony Club within our broader equestrian family. There have been many challenges and changes during my ten year tenure, but when I finally say farewell at the end of March 2015, although tinged with sadness, it will be with the knowledge that I will be handing over the Charity in good shape to serve future generations of young riders, as it has been doing so well for the past 85 years”.
