Horse Sold for 50k Euro Wins Richest Young Horse Competition 48 Hours Later

ibc logoLess than 48 hours after been sold at auction for the sum of €50,000, the six year-old mare Talks Cheap went a long way to repaying her new owners investment, buy winning the world’s richest young horse show jumping competition, The Irish Breeders Classic Final, at Barnadown in Co Wexford.
Having purchased Talks Cheap over the phone on Friday evening at the IBC Supreme Sale of Show Jumpers, which was hosted by Goresbridge Horse-Sales, new owners Carl Hanley and Enda Carroll flew in from mainland Europe on Sunday morning to see their new accusation perform and went home delighted as Alexander Butler expertly guided the daughter of Tinaranas Inspector to victory in the €45,000 competition.
A stunning double clear round in 39.76 seconds gave Meath based Butler his first IBC win, while Declan Egan also grabbed a huge slice of the massive prize-fund when finishing as runner-up with CSF Mr Croon (41.79).
The highest placed five year old in the competition, CSF Mr Kroon is by Kroongraaf out of a Cavalier Royale mare and is owned by Deirdre Bourns.
The Mary Bolger owned six year-old Kilcannon Cavaquin slotted into third, the daughter of Harlequin Du Carel was ridden by Jason Higgins and stopped the clock in 46.71 seconds as one of five double-clear rounds.
Two Waterford riders were next on the standings, Peter Moloney taking fourth place with ESI Carvaliho, just ahead of Francis Connors in fifth with Erne Luxetta.
Winner of the 2013 IBC final with Arraghbeg Clover, Greg Broderick finished sixth this time round with Super Chilled, the fastest of the four faulters in the second round, while Ard Ginger Pop, who was sold at the IBC auction for the hefty price of €95,000, slotted into s eventh place with Ger O Neill.

Meanwhile in the Irish Breeders Classic four year-old final at Barnadown, six horses shared the first prize.
Grovine Class Act owned by J. W. Foley and ridden by Patrick Byrne, TJM Country Quality owned by Roisin Byrne and ridden by Taylor Vard, Essemar Crixus owned by J. Doyle & A. Palmerand ridden by Jordan Coyle, Cooley By Name owned by Deirdre Bourns and ridden by Jenny Rankin, Castlefield Cass owned by  J. O’ Neill & P. O’ Byrne and ridden by Ger O’ Neill and finally  SRS Dignity owned by Maurice Cousins and ridden by Conor Callahan, all managed to jump clear rounds on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Barnadown to share €5,000
Well known sport horse producers Dave Quigley and Anthony Condon also added an extra bonus of €500, for the for year old horse who was judged to have the most potential and this prize went to SRS Dignity ridden by Conor Callahan.
