Matthew and Natasha’s success at Strule Valley

STRULE VALLEY RIDING CLUB, Omagh, Co Tyrone held the final night of their 2014 Annual Summer Showjumping League in glorious sunshine at Ecclesville, Fintona. Huge thanks go to the competitors for supporting the league & very well done.  The Club would like to thank everyone who helped each week & to those who helped on the final night; Raymond Caldwell course building & all others who helped with fences.  Yvonne Chisholm entries, Chris Bogle & Louise Bogle judging. Thanks to Mary Surphlis for coming along to present the LW Surphlis & Son Perpetual Trophy, Pamela & Raymond Caldwell for presenting the Good Gracious Perpetual Cup, Sheelagh McCrory for representing Ann Patterson to present the Omagh Equestrian & Countrywear Perpetual Cup.  Thanks also to Harold Cathers for presenting the Fordie Cathers Perpetual Cup.

Special thanks also to our very generous sponsors of prizes; Three Valley Vets, Ann & Noel Regan, Elizabeth Craig from Craig Haylage, Heather Beattie from Gortnagarn Stables, Noel Mullen Briarwood Enterprises, Harold Mulligan HM Carpets, Judy Maxwell – Baileys Horse Feeds & Clare-Maria Currie – Chartered Physiotherapist & Veterinary Physiotherapist. 

It proved to be an exciting final.  The beautifully turned out Minnie the Minx & Matthew Hempton held their lead in both the 60cm & 70cm classes; jumping clear each week in both classes to be the worthy winner of the AJS Promotions Perpetual Cup & the Strule Valley Riding Club Perpetual Cup.  Botera Lad & Natasha Gilchrist held on to their lead in the 80cm class also jumping clear each week to lift the LW Surphlis & Son Perpetual Trophy.  Noel Regan & his talented young small hunter Beau picked up 2^nd place in this class.

Sandra Somerville & Smartie & John Fee & Sonny went into the final leading the 90cm class, however picking up an unfortunate 4 faults each; moved them down the leaderboard into  = 2^nd place; just one point behind the winner Natasha Gilchrist & Botera Lad who jumped double clear on the final night to receive the Good Gracious Perpetual Cup; so a very close 90cm class!

Richard Balfour & Sal continued their winning ways in the metre open class; having a win on the final night to receive the Omagh Equestrian & Countrywear Perpetual Cup.  Sandra Somerville & her young horse Smartie took the blue rosette in this class.

To finish off Botera Lad & Natasha Gilchrist’s successful night; they were awarded the Fordie Cathers Perpetual Cup for being the highest placed SVRC member.
