Final Approaches for Strule Valley
STRULE VALLEY RIDING CLUB, Omagh, Co Tyrone held a very successful 3rd week of their showjumping league at Ecclesville, Fintona. Jumping continued to 10.30 pm with over 70 entries. The Club were delighted to welcome their regular competitors as well as some new faces to the league.
Thanks to Raymond Caldwell for building a nice flowing course, Sandra Magee judging, Yvonne Chisholm entries, Pearl Donnell, Emma & Trevor King refreshments in aid of Grovehill Animal Trust, Alison Donnell call up, Alison Parkes, Alan Gilchrist, Neil Somerville & Malvern Moore for assisting in the arena with fences & to anyone else who helped in any way.
Young Matthew Hempton & his super little grey pony Minnie the Minx are continuing their good form by jumping clear in both the 60cm & 70cm classes leaving them the leaders in these 2 classes; jumping for the AJS Promotions Perpetual Cup & the Strule Valley Riding Club Perpetual Cup.
Helen Kelly & Stardust were delighted to pick up a red rosette in both the 60cm & 70cm classes. Adrian McFarland & Minelli were in fine form jumping double clear in both the 70cm & 80cm classes. Chloe Nugent & her beautiful dun pony Heather jumped clear all the way in the 70cm & 80cm classes & is following Matthew Hempton closely on the scoreboard in the 70cm class.
CAFRE Student Natasha Gilchrist & Botera Lad have a clean sheet in the 80cm class which leaves them in the lead in this class & jumping for the LW Surphlis & Son Perpetual Trophy. The partnership had a successful night; also jumping double clear in the 90cm class. Following closely behind in the 80cm class is Noel Regan & his very nice young small hunter Beau.
In the Good Gracious Perpetual Cup 90cm class – Clogher Valley Riding Club members Sandra Somerville & Smartie & local farrier John Fee & Sonny are on equal points at this stage leading the class; however one point behind after week 3, are Natasha Gilchrist & Botera Lad & Noel Regan & Beau; so it should be an exciting final night!.
A win for Richard Balfour & Sal in the metre open class has put them out in front in this class; jumping for the Omagh Equestrian & Countrywear Perpetual Cup. In 2nd place at the moment in the league points is Amy Hetherington & her lovely bay mare Nadia.
The Fordie Cathers Perpetual Cup will be awarded to the highest placed SVRC member. Last year’s winner was Noel Regan.
