Busy week ahead at the Lodge
Week ending 29th June 2014, results Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre.
Show organisers at Ravensdale Lodge have a busy week ahead with RDS qualifiers for Connemara performance hunters and performance Irish drafts taking place on Saturday 5th July. This is followed on Sunday 6th July with the annual Summer Derby show at the centre and finally their FEHL on Wednesday 9th July. On top of these national shows there will be unaffiliated dressage on Tuesday 1st July, SJI registered jumping for horses and ponies on Wednesday 2nd July as well as horse & pony training on Friday 4th July. Numbers have been good for the summer run of shows to date with the weather playing a large part, especially when it comes to organising and bringing combinations out for cross country events. Event organisers will be keeping their fingers crossed that the fine weather continues over the coming days as they prepare for the week ahead. Saturday 5th July sees the second and third of the RDS qualifiers staged at the centre after the amateurs on June 21st. This time it is the turn of the Connemara’s and Irish Drafts and entries for both these qualifiers are through the RDS. Sunday 6th July sees the return of the popular Summer Derby show at the centre and if this year’s renewal is anything like the 2013 event then it should make for a very exciting competition. This SJI registered show has a start time of 9am with entries on the day and five regular classes from 90cm to 1.30m as well as the two feature Derby classes which will be set at 1.15m & 1.25m. Trevor Breen’s fine Derby win at Hickstead on Sunday will hopefully put the urge on combinations to jump a nice Derby track and take on the super Derby bank at Ravensdale Lodge on July 6th. It is then back to Dublin qualifiers on Wednesday 9th July as the centre play host to its annual FEHL, busy times indeed.
