Half Way Mark reached of Connell Hill Summer SJI Horse League

Thursday saw the Half Way Mark of the Summer SJI Horse League at Connell Hill where competitors are to jump at four league dates to qualify for the final on Thursday 31^st July, and with four dates, 3^rd, 10^th, 17^th and 24^th July, remaining competitors still have the opportunity of jumping on these dates to qualify.  The dampness in the air did not dispel the spirits of riders and horses as they undertook their chosen challenge in the outdoor arena.  This arena has a tremendous surface which provides horses the opportunity of displaying their ability to perform to their best with the knowledge of sure-footing and therefore conquer.  Mounts claiming double clears in the 90 cm class were Ryan Hunter on ‘Feerwerd Carlos’ and ‘Fivona G’, Philip White on ‘Tamni’ and Lucy Hamilton on ‘Mount Cashel Queen’.  The ever popular 1.0 m and 1.10 m classes saw double clears in both classes for Fiona Thompson on ‘My Golden Wonder’ and Joanne Jarden on ‘Red Ruby Rouge’.  The course was adjusted for the 1.20 m class to get under way and competitors patiently awaited to see just what was to be required not primarily from their horse but indeed their skill to navigate their steed.  Liam McKee took this all in his stride as he won on ‘Douglas W’ with Rachelle Harding springing into a well earned second on ‘Deepspring Tookanoo’.  The 1.30 m class brought this brilliant day to an end which saw Anita Doherty triumph on ‘Fitz’ with Liam McKee picking up second on ‘Indigo Van De Roshoeve’ and third on ‘Douglas W’.

 

Summer SJI Horse League continues on Thursday 3^rd July at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m.  Show Dates: Thursday 3^rd, 10^th, 17^th, 24^th and Final on Thursday 31^st July.  Competitors to jump at four league dates to qualify for the final.

 

Training Shows will continue on Friday night, as jumping is outdoor this show will commence at 6.30 pm sharp, X-Poles – 1.0 m classes, where everyone will receive a warm welcome with café facilities for hot and cold drinks/snacks.
