Week ending 22nd June 2014, results Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre.

With one down & three to go, Ravensdale Lodge hosted the first of its qualifiers for the RDS Horse Show in August on Saturday 21st June. First up were the amateurs and as it was everyone’s last chance to qualify for Dublin there was some strong competition among the 150 odd entries for the last eight qualifying places available. Nigel Jess set the challenge, as he had done for the other three qualifiers and with such a large entry he knew he had to ask some questions of combinations. Jess was happy with the 30 combinations, 18 from the A rider ranks and 12 AA riders, that went through from the first round to the first jump off. The competition which was held on grass in the Longines main grass arena at Ravensdale Lodge was over a course of twelve fences which consisted of three doubles along with some very interesting lines that made good use of the massive space on offer in this arena which was in great condition on the day. The day was bathed in glorious sunshine and temperatures were high for both horse and rider. When seven of the thirty clear rounds went clear again in the first jump off a great spirit of animal welfare was shown when all seven decided they would divided the class and share equal first rather than put their horses through a second jump off course to decide the outcome of the class.  As they had all qualified for Dublin on the day which was their primary objective, all were happy to go home and let the battle recommence at the RDS in August. The seven clear rounds were also joined by the fastest four faulter to fill the eighth and final qualifying berth for Dublin and a full results round up can be seen below.

Smiles all round & blue skies above as Katie Creegan, seen here with Dolly & Mum Trish, struck a rich vein of form (and luck) as she collected her saddle pad after her name was picked from the draw and won the class prize after going clear in the 70cm class at Ravensdale Lodge's horse & pony training league on Friday.
