The Echo’s of Success at Connell Hill
The very popular venue, Connell Hill, saw a host of competitors arrive to jump outdoor tracks in the glorious sunshine making for a most Mediterranean setting with riders enjoying the opportunity of offloading their show jackets to jump in their shirts. This a relaxed safety conscious environment saw youngsters jump these tracks with the more experienced horses. Will, course designer, exhibited colourful fences taking advantage of the vast arena space. The flowing tracks which invited and encouraged both horse and rider to advance with confidence achieving success requested stride precision demonstrating proficient horsemanship skill. This very pleasurable day commenced with the 80 cm class with double clears for Clare Spillane-Pattison on ‘Little Task’ and Joanne Blair on ‘Creevagh Paparazzi. Clare then jumped her second horse ‘Cor De La’ double clear in the 90 cm class with Philip White on ‘Tamni’ and Linda Courtney on ‘LCC Empty Pockets’. The day progressed on to the 1.0 m class which saw multiple riders Edward Little on ‘Ardnacashel Kadabra’ and ‘Drumiller Houdini’, Ian Millar on ‘Bellspark View’ and ‘Montilly’ and Philip White on ‘Tamni (IRE)’ and ‘Larredo’ amongst the double clears. Will and the arena crew quickly set to work on the course for the very competitive 1.10 m class which saw Diane Atcheson successfully navigate the track jumping double clear on ‘Echoes of Time’.
The success of winning the 1.20 m class was claimed by Suzanne Posnett on ‘Orchard Echo’ with Joanne Blair on ‘O.T.T. Alfie’ picking up second and Liam McGarry on ‘Javas Patsy’ taking third. The 1.30 m class, the final class of the day, saw Joanne Blair on ‘O.T.T. Alfie’ move up the ladder to take first place with Deborah Palmer on ‘Diktor Van Het Keizershof’, with hair splitting seconds take a very honourable second place.
Summer SJI Horse League continues on Thursday 19th June at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m. Show Dates: Thursday 19th and 26th June, 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and Final on Thursday 31st July. Competitors to jump at four league dates to qualify for the final.
Training Shows will continue on Friday night, as jumping is outdoor this show will commence at 6.30 pm sharp, X-Poles – 1.0 m classes, where everyone will receive a warm welcome with café facilities for hot and cold drinks/snacks.
