Blossomhill Classic Clover ‘Hooks’ First at Connell Hill

connellhillCompetitors arrived at Connell Hill taking, this, the last opportunity to qualify for the final of this Five Week May League scheduled for next Saturday, 31st May, at 10.00 am, competitors to have jumped at two league dates to qualify; those not qualified are more than welcome to attend and compete.  Will built some, undeniably, fast thinking tracks which gave spectators the privilege of viewing some excellent riding skills as competitors made the technical turns during the timings.  The excellent weather conditions were an added bonus as the sun shone upon the rainbow coloured arena making the jump off courses inviting and welcoming to both horse and rider.  Riders all professionally turned out and horses groomed eager for action made this a most enjoyable day as spectators, competitors, grooms and owners all mingled and chatted whilst they enjoyed a refreshment.  Deborah Newberry, from Ballyclare, took the first double clear of the day in the 90 cm class on ‘Lurgan Air’ with Patricia Stewart, from Lisburn, taking the second followed by Ian Millar, from Sion Mills, on ‘Montilly’.  Patricia then took the first double clear in the 1.0 m class on ‘Jones VD Bisschop’ Ian the second double clear on ‘Montilly’ with Carla Overend on ‘CJO Max A Million’ picking up the third.  It was then time for ground control maintenance with Will and arena crew setting the course for the 1.10 m class with huge competition and hooking first place was Rebecca Hooks, from Newtownards, on ‘Blossomhill Classic Clover’ with Shannon Leinster, also from Newtownards, taking second on ‘Gossip Girl’.  The 1.20 m class saw girls take the hand brakes off with Carine Fullerton take first on ‘Sligo Lantender’, Lucy Hanna nimbly sprung into second on ‘Spring Rumba’ with ‘Wee Todd’ taking third ridden by Kirsty Chambers.  The 1.30 m class still held everyone captive as competitors jumped for the honours of first place but Simon Scott coolly and collectively jumped ‘Carnoneybridge Sister Kate’ into first nudging Patricia Stewart into second on ‘Garagange’ and third on ‘Rehab’ with Simon also picking up fourth on ‘Carnoneybride Diva’ and Lucy Hanna fifth on ‘Spring Rumba’.

 

Final of the 5 Week May SJI Horse League on 31st May at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m, competitors to have jumped at two league dates to qualify for this final, those not qualified may still attend.

 

Summer SJI Horse League commences on Thursday 5th June at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m.  Show Dates: Thursday 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th June, 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and Final on Thursday 31st July.

 

Jumping Derby Show on Sunday 8th June at 10.00 am for horses and ponies, classes 60 cm – 1.0 m.

 

Cash Jumping Ireland Show on Saturday 14th June at 10.00 am, classes 60 cm – 1.30 m, this show is designed for all show jumpers whatever level, providing fair competition for all.  For more information on Cash Jumping or to register go to www.cashjumpingireland.com

 

Training Shows will continue on Friday night, as jumping is outdoor this show will commence at 6.30 pm sharp, X-Poles – 1.0 m classes, where everyone will receive a warm welcome with café facilities for hot and cold drinks/snacks.
