Week ending 11th May 2014, results Ravensdale Lodge Equestrian & Event Centre.

The first of the “Bumper Shows” for 2014 at Ravensdale Lodge was held on Monday 5th May which was a bank holiday on both sides of the border. While the day started grey and damp it did not deter the eager competitors who came in their droves to jump at the centres world-class facilities. The draw of the fantastic prizes which are now synonymous with these bumper shows at Ravensdale Lodge probably played no small part in the packed attendance as well! With seven classes from X poles to 1.10m and prizes courtesy of Ravensdale Lodge, Botanica International, Horse First, Mackins Horse Feeds & Moorhill Saddlery it was sure to be a busy day with the action kicking off at 11am. It was a fantastic day for members of Mourneview riding club with representatives winning the first four classes and narrowly missing out on the fifth by just over a second. Emma Gillespie riding Grey Sapphire got the ball rolling and set the standard for the Kingdom of Mourne riders as the combination set blistering times of 33.26 and 28.61 seconds respectively to win both the X poles and the 60cm classes. The Mc Anerney sisters, Zara & Amy had to share the family pony Gerenemo for the X poles class and they did so to good effect, Zara coming home second and Amy slotting into third place to the delight of Mum Karen who would compete herself later in the 80cm class. Alyssia Burns finished fourth in the class with Coco Channel while Ava Watters slotted into fifth place on board Ravensdale Lodge’s Womble. Newry rider and Ravensdale Lodge regular, Katelyn King finished a very close second to Gillespie in the 60cm class on bard her own Sandy with home rider Jason Connolly partnering Browno into third while Newcastle rider Chloe Martin partnering Beautiful Pearl came home fourth in the class.

Mourneview riders filled the first two places in the 70cm class with Charley Hanna winning the class in a super sharp time of 22.64 seconds while Tierna Harper filled second place with Peppermint Clover. Sean O’ Brien came home third in the class with Sally, Alex Moffett with Shergar was fourth while Ciara Russell with Misty filled fifth & Molly O’ Connor with her new mount Legato slotted into sixth place. Tierna Harper went one better with Peppermint Clover in the 80cm class, their time of 28.36 seconds too good for Eirinn Reel who finished in second place with Orlando. Ciara Russell improved by two places in this class to finish third while Karen Mc Anerney came home fourth with Tootsie, Rebecca Mc Auley with Icelandia was fifth and Lauren Wilson had a fine start to her move from ponies to horses by finishing sixth on Charante. Molly O’ Connor broke the stranglehold of the Mourne riders by narrowly winning the 90cm class with her regular mount Taffy. There was only a fraction of a second separating another Mourne rider, this time Ruth Baird on board Homer who had to settle for second place. Katherine Weir with Molly was third while Lauren Wilson improved by two places from the previous class by finishing fourth. The final two places were filled by Andrew Rafferty with Turbo who took fifth and Amber Harrison with Sir Duke who took sixth. Niamh Warde won the 1m class with Prince beating Newry rider Carl Webb into second place with a time of 38.73 seconds, Drumcondrath Co. Meath’s Sarah Ellibert took third place on board Belle Izarra Z, Carrickmacross’ Alvin Mc Elwaine slotted into fourth place with Mivvie while Emma Andrews filled fifth place with The Elf. Carl Webb went one better in the final class of the day, the 1.10m, this time with Willow while another Mc Elwaine, this time Victoria took second place with Pandora D and Courtney Wilson took third place with Charante.
