‘Marathon’ Training Show at Connell Hill
The Bank Holiday weekend started on Friday night with a ‘marathon’ training show when competitors arrived to jump courses at Connell Hills’ outdoor arena. This is the perfect show to attend testing riding skills and the horses ability over courses with a first class surface. This carefully maintained surface enhances performance as horses and riders gain confidence going forward encountering fences designed to test their ability, encourage their bravery and concentration with outdoor activity.
Kimberley Cotton took the first red rosette of the night on ‘Dante’ jumping double clear in the x-poles class with Adam Sossick taking the second red on ‘Loughview Sweet Delight’ in the 50 cm class and then jumping double clear in the 60 cm class with Rachel McLean on ‘Templebready Lyric’ and Jessica Higgins on ‘Crystal’. Jessica and ‘Crystal’ then went on to jump double in the 70 cm class with Naomi McCavanna on ‘Molly’. The course then set for the 80 cm class demanded control with engineered steering as competitors navigated from fence to fence and taking this all in their stride with double clears were Naomi McCavanna on ‘Molly’, Marie-Clare Bell on ‘MJ’ and Charlotte Wylie on ‘Holly’. The climax of the night was the 90 cm class which saw a very proud Jill Gourley jump double clear on ‘Pride’.
Training Shows will continue on Friday night, as jumping is outdoor this show will commence at 6.30 pm sharp, X-Poles – 1.10 m classes, where everyone will receive a warm welcome with café facilities for hot and cold drinks/snacks.
5 Week May SJI Horse League has commenced and will continue on Saturday 10th, 17th, 24th and final on 31st May at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m.
Cash Jumping Ireland Show scheduled for Sunday 18th May at 10.00 am, classes 60 cm – 1.30 m, this show is designed for all show jumpers whatever level, providing fair competition for all. For more information on Cash Jumping or to register go to www.cashjumpingireland.com
