Two Birthday Newborns Reunite To Jump at Connell Hill Five Years On

| March 24, 2014

connellhillNow that Spring has officially arrived Connell Hill, Randalstown, was a hive of activity over the week-end which commenced with the training show on Friday night where competitors arrived with a variety of goals.  Some for training/schooling, some aiming higher, some confidence building and some enjoying the experience of competiting in a fun relaxed environment enjoying their relationship / partnership with their horses/ponies.  Where better than at Connell Hill if you do need that little bit of extra help, advice or indeed have a question every assistance will be freely given.  The night started with the X-Poles class which saw two young ladies not only born on the same day, 13th December 2008 but in the same hospital ward side by side, take up this most athletic equine sport and meet up 5 years later at Connell Hill to jump clear, from Coagh, Kim Moore on ‘Little Bridie’ and, from Cookstown, Kimberley Cotton on ‘Dante’.  Two young gentlemen with a bright future in show jumping taking red rosettes in the 50 cm class with clear rounds and then jump double clears in the 60 cm class were Ben Maybin on ‘Tom Thumb’ and Oliver Doherty on ‘Trendy’.  Oliver then went on to jump double clear on ‘Trendy in the 70 cm class with Jamie-Leigh Wilkin on ‘Shantih’ and Ellen Bates on ‘Elle’.  Ellen and ‘Elle’ then took the challenge of the 80 cm class to jump a superb double clear claiming red.  The arena crew set the fences for the 90 cm class for Emma Wright to jump double clear on her super horse ‘Minnie’ who thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  All too soon it was the last class of the night, the 1.0 m class, and Sarah Sproule on ‘Mia’ took it all in her stride and skilfully jumped double clear.
