Patterson Takes Connell Hill Poll Position on Knockroe Decies Girl
The sixth week of the SJI Horse League at Connell, with four weeks remaining before the final on Saturday 26th April, saw the car parks fill with not only horse boxes and lorries but cars with spectators as competitors arrived in full show attire to take the challenge of jumping some technical tracks. These tracks held the attention of owners and spectators providing some nail-biting moments as riders navigated their way over the course. The day got of to a roaring start with a full house of double clears in the 80 cm and 90 cm classes. Mr Will Crean, Course Designer, and arena crew quickly set to work on building the 1.0 m class which saw Fiona Thompson on, Janet Curries’, ‘Curolea Roni take the first double clear of the class followed by Philip Whites’, own horse, ‘Larredo’ take the second double clear. The show then moved unto the 1.10 m class which saw some super rounds of jumping with Liam McKee, display his riding talent as he successfully jumped double clear on all his own three horses in this class, ‘Douglas W’, ‘Daberlina M’ and ‘Indigo Van De Roshoeve’. Young ladies took control of the 1.20 m track as Shannon MacKenzie on ‘Bens Lady Lux’ jumped the first double clear followed by Carine Fullerton on ‘Sligo Lantender’, which was then followed by the final class of the day the 1.30 m class and with clocks set and ready competitors took the challenge but no one could catch Rebecca Patterson as she sped over the course to take the honours of first place on ‘Knockroe Decies Girl’ and fourth on ‘Crucio SR’.
