Overseas Buyers flock to Cavan

Overseas buyers certainly helped to make the first Horse & Pony sale of 2014 a success with a clearance of over 60%. The sales complex saw regular buyers back again in force at Cavan as well as numerous new faces who faced hard bargaining to find that special purchase. Buyers travelled from all over Sweden, Belgium, Scotland, England and Ireland and both vendors and buyers seemed to be equally happy with the sale. An appealing and varied sales catalogue was very tempting and helped ensure that the Lots on offer found their way to new homes.
A bonus of a half tonne of feed for the top priced horse and the top priced pony kindly sponsored by GAIN Horse Feeds was certainly an attraction and will surely be welcome to the deserving owners – top priced horse Lot 262 A. Kennedy and top priced pony Lot 186, J Naan.

As per usual the ponies started off the day, and bids were flying for the many ponies that were on offer. Almost half the ponies found new homes with many buyers purchasing these ponies for the coming season.

Many of the horses on display caught the eye of buyers and because of this many horses found they were going home with new owners. The buyers were very impressed with the selection of horses on offer and a brisk sale continued throughout both days and the big crowd in attendance combined to make a fantastic atmosphere.
