Hat-trick for Tullyraine House Stallion Winged Love
Eight went to post for the opening race of Farmacaffrey, the Northern Building Supplies confined hunt winners race. There was a heavily supported favourite in the form of Ravensdale Lady, but it was a not a good start for the favourite backers.
Spin Box was always prominent with Ravensdale Lady tracking her throughout, coming to the last Jamie Codd produced Ravensdale Lady to lead, though it was Spin Box who rallied and came back to lead on the run. Under a determined ride from Ms R Armstrong, Spin Box won by three quarters of a length with a further three lengths back to the third, Caledon Craic.
Tullyraine House Stallion Winged Love had a day to remember when siring three winners at Farmacaffrey. The first of these came in division one of the second race, the five and six year old geldings maiden sponsored by Market Hill Livestock and Farm Supplies. The Ian Ferguson trained William Thompson ridden Walden was always prominent sharing the lead with Southsea Island but when the latter fell three from home, it left Walden clear and he ran on strongly to win by 10 lengths from My Aya in second and Master Butcher in third.
The second division went the way of One Cool Clarkson trained by Neil McKnight and ridden by Ben Crawford. A trend seemed to be being set with the third winner in as many races racing prominent throughout, in going on two out to win by two lengths from Ballycanal Tom.
The third race was the Donnelly Bros five year old plus mares maiden, Ben Crawford completed a double on the day when taking the second division also giving Winged Love his second winner on the day, when Hidden Horizon won by a comfortable six lengths from Clever Brook in second and Buckfast a further 15 lengths back in third.
There was a thrilling finish to the first division when Lily Waugh under Noel McParland and The Wee Girl, under Jamie Flynn went head to head from three out with the former just getting the better of the argument to win by a head.
Gordon Elliot sent Fiance Annie Bowles from his County Meath base with one runner, the trip proved worthwhile when Hoopy took the open contest under Annie. Carsonstown boy had every chance when falling at the last, leaving Hoopy to score comfortably with Mister Philson in second and Tipolino in third.
The fifth race provided Winged love with his third winner of the day and also a first ever winner for Kevin O’Hare when Highly Unlikely scored for Newry trainer Liam Lennon. Rossanawee was second and Kerryhead Storm was third. Leading rider Jamie Codd left it late to get off the mark on the day, but went home with a winner when steering Lordswood Lane home to win by three quarters of a length from Milan Flyer in the finale for trainer Cecil Ross with a long distance Back to Bacher son in third.
