Huge Competition for Final Unregistered Horse Show at Connell Hill
The final day of the Unregistered Horse Shows at Connell Hill on Saturday saw huge competition as riders took the challenge of jumping a course of fences designed, by Mr W Crean, to encourage smooth controlled horsemanship. The relaxed safety conscious environment gave riders courage to jump greater heights with young horses enjoying their experience as they encounter the world of show jumping. This show provided riders, owners and spectators with a tremendous day of entertainment, excitement and achievement enjoyed by all.
The show commenced with a very busy 80 cm class which saw a superb double clear for John McLaughlin as he introduced ‘Jack’ to his future career. Riders taking the challenge of the 90 cm class saw huge competition but taking it all in their stride were Alanna Dunlop on’Gemma SC’, Janet Currie on ‘Bobi’, Kevin Mackey on ‘Indian Moondust’ and Louise Houston on ‘Ballybrack Tom’ amongst the double clears. As spectators filled the viewing gallery the 1.0 m class got under way and riders encountered a track which required controlled precision riding with double clears for Zoe Woods on ‘Alice’ and Rachel Lambe on ‘Ducky’ displaying these skills. It was onwards and upwards aiming higher with a double clear for Claire Ireland on ‘Going For Gold’ as they jumped their first 1.10 m and to end this most exciting rewarding show Mark Harley jumped double clear on ‘Mossey’ in the 1.20 m class.
Training Shows continue on Friday nights at 6.30 pm, X-Poles – 1.10 m classes, where everyone will receive a warm welcome with café facilities for hot and cold drinks/snacks.
