Route Hunt meet at Ballyversal, Coleraine
On Saturday 18th January 24 Route hunt members and visitors met at the home of Lesley and Freddie McDowell at Ballyversal, Coleraine.Hot port was on offer and was welcomed by all especially as it was raining. Despite the weather spirits were high and all were looking forward to a good day out.
There were several quite challenging hedges which some decided to miss out and 3 riders parted company with their horses all at different hedges. The other jumps included banks, a small ditch, walls, numerous rustic style fences of varying heights with another rider parting company with his horse over one of the bigger rustic fences and there was a laneway hack to allow all to catch their breath. After almost 3 hours of riding all returned to The McDowells house and welcomed the beef stew provided by Lesley and Freddie.
Thanks goes to Lesley McDowell, Jonny Butler, Lee Johnson, Stephen Grieves and Martin Mellet for setting up another good day out for the Route hunt and to the farmers and landowners who give the hunt the use of their land.
The next hunt is at 12 noon on Saturday 25th January .The organisers hope to see a good turnout of members and visitors and welcome anyone who wishes to follow the hunt on foot. For further details on this or about joining the Route Hunt please contact the Hunt Secretary (Julie Smyth 07793209899)
