New Year Resolutions for Connell Hill Competitors
As the New year gets underway, the competitors at Connell Hill on Friday night had a new years resolution to share. ”Get fit and ready to put best foot forward for the year ahead at Connell Hill” Friday night’s training show was the first step towards completing their resolution with help and guidance readily on hand for encouragement.
The relaxed, fun filled night which saw a stadium filled with applauding, cheering encouragement commence with the X-Poles class present red rosettes to Gracie Bright on ‘Sandy Fluff, Bethany Gordon on ‘Dunshane Super Toy’ and Max McDonnell on ‘Mountain Game Cock’. Two young stars of the future Bethany Gordon on, the appropriately named, ‘Dunshane Super Toy’ and Elle McDonnell on ‘Sunny’ took red in the 50 cm and 60 cm classes. The excitement grew as the fences were raised for the 70 cm class which saw Adele Dallas on ‘Felix’ from Stewartstown take the first double clear of the class. The 80 cm class saw a very speedy double clear from Amy Jenkins on ‘Gusty’, followed by the 90 cm class with Beth Boone on ‘Angel’ and Seaneen McCoy on ‘Hazel Star’ collecting red ribbons. The last class of the evening the 1.0 m class saw Emma Allen on ‘Rio’, who had jumped double clear in the previous class, with confidence take home another red. Well done to everyone see you all next week and don’t forget your “New Years Resolution” – Training at Connell Hill”.
Training Shows will continue next Friday night at 6.30 pm, X-Poles – 1.10 m classes, where everyone will receive a warm welcome with café facilities for hot and cold drinks/snacks.
Connell Hill will host their second Unregistered Horse Show on Saturday 18th January 2014 at 10.30 am, classes 80 cm – 1.20 m. This is the ideal show to introduce or bring on the young horse as riders will have the opportunity to warm up in the new spacious outdoor arena before jumping a course of fences in this first class indoor arena. The track, designed by Mr Will Crean, will encourage these less experienced horses giving them confidence as they embrace the world of show jumping and indeed the rider contemplating registered showing, with more technical tracks for the more advanced as heights step up, before the competitive season begins. This show is open to all unregistered horses and riders in full show attire.
