Claire Dobbins Cracker Derby Day

December 1^st was the date for the start of the Laurel View Indoor Derby League. Competitors had a great afternoon navigating their way round the twists and turns of the course.

 

Claire Dobbin and Louie won the 60cm class outright with a lovely clear round to start the competition.  Tierna Henderson and Taste of Magic took home second place after picking up some jumping faults.

 

The competition for the places over the 70cm was a much more competitive affair.  Jump offs were needed to sort both the clear rounds and the 4 faulters.  Claire Dobbin riding Flash this time kept it together for the jump off and took the red rosette for a clean jump off, 4 faults in the jump off cost Miriam Wright and The Castletown Lad the top spot. Ironically those with 4 faults over the complete course, all went clear in their jump off!

 

Fences up to 85cm and the competition continued, with three riders pulling off a perfect round it was down to the jump off to decide the places.  Lady and Helen Cunningham took first place honours after a quick clean jump off. A wee slip up cost Clover and Tara Murphy the red rosette but speed earned them second place.

 

No clear rounds over the complete metre course, but plenty of competitive spirit all the same.  Having picked up 4 faults, Katie McKay and Legend stayed clear over the jump off to take the number 1 spot ahead off Hannah Blakely and Rough Terrain.

The Derby action continues in the New Year on the 5^th January and then again on 2^nd February.  The competition commences at 12.30pm for the Derby competitions, with the 60cm competitors getting to play first.
