Lovely finish for Nicky Nesbitt and “The Spymaster” after their winning Open test.

The first day of the Laurel View Winter Dressage League on 6th October was a fine winter’s day, perfect for painting pylons apparently!  The pylon painters had a bird’s eye view of the tests ridden in the outdoor arena, the judges remained in the more traditional position though.

Geraldine Lowry assessed the performance of competitors riding Prelim 13 for Class 4 with Kirsty Marsden obviously on top form taking home a first for her test on Loughmourne Diamond and a second riding Laurel View Cherry.

Laurel Faloona took the judges “not so” hot seat to judge the Novice and Open classes. In the Novice Katie Watt and Silly Sally scored highest, just ahead of Jill

Hobson and Furisto Seven for a Secret. When it came to the Open Class it was Nicky Nesbitt on The Spymaster riding the Elementary test that caught the judge’s eye. Allan Dewhursts Medium Test on Isaac earned them the blue rosette.

Meanwhile indoors Fran Warden had the responsibility for judging Classes 2 and 3, top of the Newcomers class was Holly McKeown on Laurel View Sparky, beating fellow riding school steed Rab ridden by Sharka Gerhardus into second place.  Prelim 4 was the test of the day for Class 3 competitors and Penny Murphy riding Tick It took the top spot, leaving Jewel and Leah Knight with a blue rosie.

Kelly Kerr was the last judge to leave her pen down after the walk trot test.  Her scoring sent Connie Hannaway and CHE Banoffee French home with the first place rosette and Mount Charles Boy and Diane Jones with a second.

"Tick-It" and Penny Murphy take home 1st for Class 3.

As ever huge thanks to everyone who played a part in making the day possible, scores have been recorded on the league table and photos taken by Equi-Tog helping to keep a visual record as well.

The league continues once a month through the Winter, check out www.laurelview.co.uk for a full list of dates and tests or if you prefer to talk give us a call on 028 9083 0649.
