New System Enables Significant Growth of Eventing Sport in Ireland
November 2013: TEKenable, a leading Dublin based software development company, has recently completed a cutting edge interactive membership and horse registration system for Eventing Ireland. The new online system provides Eventing Ireland with the ability to have fully interactive commercial activity and communications with members and volunteers.
Eventing Ireland is now able to manage its interactions with all its members in Ireland and abroad from one online hub. The new system allows them to organise and sell event tickets online, manage new memberships and volunteers, co-ordinate eventing competitions and prizes at national level. Crucially, all the horses involved are now registered with their owners in one central database.
Eventing Ireland is the governing body of the sport of horse trials in Ireland, involved both in regulating the sport and organising events. The sport of Eventing in Ireland has been growing steadily over the past number of years with memberships available to non-riding to riding members from the age of twelve upwards.
Eventing Ireland annually hosts over fifty national events and five high profile international events each season. With over three hundred entries each weekend the organisational task facing Eventing Ireland was becoming very significant.
The new fully content managed web site is a key hub for awareness, online trading, communications and event management. The system allows for many new powerful features including upgrades to the breeding information, which is vital for breeders, owners and potential buyers from all over the world. Members can now see at a glance the top event riders, horses, owners and breeders. The project took sixteen months to complete and is valued at €100,000.
Technically speaking, the new system is built on a SQL Server 2008 R2 database, which hosts the core transaction processing logic. It uses a mix of SQL and CLI (C#) within the SQL Server 2008 engine for optimal performance and functionality.

Eventing Ireland have utilised a number of modules incorporated into an overall solution, including: memberships, renewals, a shopping basket capability, a payment gateway capability, events creation and management capability, SAGE integration and a full content management capability. Daily sales are now automatically integrated into the financial system, Sage, which now frees up administration time.”
