Route Hunt Meet at the Cam
On Saturday 2nd February 16 members of The Route Hunt met at The Cam near Limavady for a hunt hosted by The McCloskey family. The hunt had been cancelled for 2 weeks because of snow so everyone was happy to be out again. Before setting off all enjoyed mulled wine which was very welcomed in the chilly temperatures.
The first few jumps were at the McCloskey’s farm to get everyone warmed up. The hunt then hacked along The Cam Road and into ground behind the quarry. Here there were several tyre jumps, wooden fences, a stone wall and 2 water ditches. The water proved troublesome for a couple of riders but with the help of huntsman Lee Johnson all crossed successfully and stayed on board. The hunt continued across fields then crossed The Broad Road down into the valley for more jumps. The hunt finished after 2 ½ hours through the forest path with several more jumps then returned to The McCloskeys for a hearty late lunch. Once again hunt members enjoyed a great day out thanks to Gerard McCloskey the hunt organiser. The hunt organisers hope to see a good turnout for the next hunt on Saturday 9th February at 12 noon.
