Ally Herr & Thunder go clear over the 60cm newcomers track at the Mackins Horse Feeds indoor arena eventing league at Ravensdale Lodge on Saturday.

Always mindful of the challenges that face competitors in these tough economic times, Ravensdale Lodge are delighted to announce a number of new and innovative ideas that are aimed to help. Travel and the cost of fuel has risen greatly over the past couple of years with the cost of travelling to shows now outweighing the cost of entries in many cases.

Everyone who travels to compete at Ravensdale Lodge over the coming weeks of the winter / spring schedule will now be put into a daily draw for a fuel voucher, that’s four weekly vouchers.

The good news is that these vouchers are in addition to the generous sponsors prizes already available to competitors for each show and everyone will be in with a chance to win as the voucher will be drawn and are not determined by who wins the class.

All leagues, the Crowne Plaza Hotel SJI registered indoor horse & pony league on Thursday, the Horseware Ireland indoor horse & pony training league on Friday, the Mackins Horse Feed indoor arena eventing league on Saturday and the Cemac Group indoor dressage league on Sunday will all have a weekly voucher on offer to a lucky winner.

Sticking with the theme of travel and cost savings, Ravensdale Lodge recently launched its Bed & Breakfast scheme for horse and rider. With so many shows and options for competitors at Ravensdale Lodge, this scheme is aimed at those who have to travel and may wish to take part in two or more competitions at the centre over a couple of days. This will suit combinations who in particular want to gather points in the combined training league being run at the centre. It is also a great opportunity to “get away from it all”, trek or hack with your own horse in the stunning countryside and award winning trails that surrounds Ravensdale Lodge in conjunction with taking part in the competitions at this world class facility. This offer is centred around reduced stabling costs and entry fees for anyone who wants to spend a couple of days at the centre and overnight

packages can be organised for riders in the many excellent accommodation providers located close to Ravensdale Lodge. Commenting of the initiatives, Niall Connolly of Ravensdale Lodge stated “Everyone is facing major challenges at the moment, not least the cost of travel. We have been listening to the challenges facing our customers over the past couple of years and the one that comes up most often is the cost of fuel. At Ravensdale Lodge we have found that once people come and see the standard of our facilities they will keep coming back throughout the year. We want to acknowledge the effort everyone makes in coming to compete at Ravensdale Lodge, especially those who travel a distance. It is important to point out that our location is second to none being located just a mile or so off the M1 motorway and being forty five minutes drive from Belfast and under an hour from Dublin. It is always easier on fuel when you travel on a good road and with these new initiatives we want to encourage competitors, especially those who have not visited the centre to travel to Ravensdale Lodge”.
