Cavan’s Elite Foal Sale a Massive Success with 93% Clearance

cavanThe much anticipated Elite Foal Sale took place on Thursday 26th September and witnessed a remarkable 93% clearance rate.  The sale will took place during the prestigious annual Cavan Indoor Championships week long Show and without a doubt proved that this new platform was a sure winner.

All catalogued foals came with an impressive background on both sides which appealed to the many customers who kept the arena buzzing with bids.  The top priced foal at €10,000 was Lot 22 by Sandro Boy which was put forward by Denise Duffy and Joe Reilly kept a delighted audience captured with a frenzy of bidding.  Other Lots were not to be outdone by some other high prices on the night which included a plot Blue foal at €8,800 and a Kannan foal at €8,200.

Performance & Connemara Sales

The October International Performance Sale takes place on Wednesday 9th & Thursday 10th October & the Registered Connemara Sale on Friday 11th October.

As usual in the International Performance sale there is a wide variety of entries on offer so there is sure to be something of interest to everyone. Out of the fantastic assortment of ponies on offer it will be possible to handpick the right one for you.  In the selection of 128cms, 138cms and 148cms you can find Connemara ponies, Grade A & B ponies and many of these come with showjumping, eventing and hunting experience.  If you are the type who likes a challenge it is also possible to acquire young ponies.

The horse section offers an excellent selection of experienced horses many with years of work under saddle right through to unbroken horses and as you would expect the progeny of many famous sires are catalogued including OBOS Quality, Chacco Blue, Chacoa, Master Imp.   The breakdown of horses on offer is as follows;

25 six year olds

50 five year olds

60 four year olds

80 three year olds as well as

60 horses over six years of age.

 

All entries catalogued for this sale will be performing before going into the sales ring – either being ridden or lunged over a set of poles and all are proven or potential showjumpers, eventers, hunting, dressage or pleasure riding animals. Veterinary certificates and vendor warranties are submitted with each horse and pony offered for sale and can be viewed in the secretary’s office. This ensures that all animals are fit for sale and as an additional reassurance, re-vetting facilities are on site. Viewing commences each day at 9.00am with the sale commencing at 10.00am. In the Performance sale ponies are sold in the morning, followed by horses which are sold in order of age with the oldest animals sold first. The Connemara sale order is foals, yearlings, 2 year olds, mares and lastly riding and jumping ponies.

The Registered Connemara sale on Friday 11th will have over 70 options from this breed to choose from.

All entries catalogued for sale will be on show before going into the sales ring.  Veterinary certificates if applicable and vendor warranties submitted with each animal offered for sale will be available for viewing in the secretary’s office.  Viewing commences for this sale commences at 11.00am with the sale starting at 12noon.
