‘Great Spirit’ Arose at Connell Hill!
As we near the end of September who would have thought that there was still sun shine left in abundance which shone all day at Connell Hills’ SJI Horse League, this added to the wonderful atmosphere which was evident as the spectators applauded and cheered competitors as they jumped. From early morning the car parks filled as competitors arrived to jump a super track designed by Nigel Jess. It was a busy successful morning jumping double clears in the 80 cm and 90 cm classes for Stephanie Doherty on ‘Beechmount Champ’ and Clare Spillane-Pattison on ‘Little Task with Clare also jumping double clear on ‘Cor De La’ in the 90 cm class. Taking the royalties in the 1.0 m class with double clears was Jonathan Goudie on ‘King of Carrickdawson’ and ‘Queen of Carrickdawson’. With clocks set the going got tough but no-one could catch Lucy Mulligan on ‘Great Spirit’ as they took first place in both the 1.10 m class and 1.20 m class. To end a fabulous days jumping Ashleigh Woods on ‘Bayan de la Bouverie’ took the first placing with Kevin Mackey on ‘Cruising Lux’ picking a very deservedly second place.
Training Show for Horses and Ponies continue on Friday nights, at 6.30 pm, 50 cm – 1.10 m classes.
SJI Autumn Horse League Saturday 19th and 26th October, 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd with final on 30th November, classes 80 cm – 1.30 am starting at 10.00 am.
SJI Autumn Pony League Sunday 13th October with Final on Sunday 27th October, all the usual classes starting at 10.00 am.
£1,000 Indoor Derby League second league date will be Saturday 12th October with Final on Sunday 3rd November at 10.00 am. Competitors must compete at 1 league date to qualify for final.
£1500 Grand Prix Horse Show on Saturday 5th October at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m.
Dressage Show Day on Sunday 6th October at 10.00 am, class 1 – Intro A (2008), class 2 – Prelim 10 (2002), class 3 – Prelim 14 (2006), class 4 – Novice 30 (2006), class 5 – Elementary 58 (2004).
