The Sky’s The Limit at Connell Hill
The car parks were a hive of activity as competitors turned up to jump at the Training Show at Connell Hill on Friday night. These Training Shows are proving more popular as competitors have the opportunity to jump a course designed to school and train both rider and horse as they progress through their career.
The first class of the night, the 50 cm class, saw Adam Sossick on ‘Loughview Sweetie’, a young up and coming future athlete from a show jumping background, jump a clear round. Following clear rounds in the 50 cm class Elle McDonald on ‘Sonny’ and Yasmin Boyle on ‘Kizzy’, her new horse, went on to jump double clears in the 60 cm class. Katie Stewart on her super horse ‘Casanova’ took a red rosette in the 70 cm class with Jodie Creighton on ‘Reilly’ jumping a double clear in the 80 cm class. Taking home a red ribbon to Cookstown with a double clear in the 1.0 m class was Karen Heron on ‘Sky Cruise’.
Training Show for Horses and Ponies continue on Friday nights, at 6.30 pm, 50 cm – 1.10 m classes.
£1500 Grand Prix Horse Show on Saturday 5th October at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m classes
SJI Autumn Horse League 19th and 26th October, 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd with final on 30th November, classes 80 cm – 1.30 am starting at 10.00 am.
SJI Autumn Pony League Sunday 13th October with Final on Sunday 27th October, all the usual classes starting at 10.00 am.
£1,000 Indoor Derby League, second league date Saturday 12th October with Final on Sunday 3rd November at 10.00 am. Competitors must compete at 1 league date to qualify for final.
Dressage Show Day Sun 6th October at 10.00 am, Intro A (2008), Prelim 10 (2002), Prelim 14 (2006), Novice 30 (2006) and Elementary 58 (2004).
