Arena Eventing at Strule Valley

STRULE VALLEY RIDING CLUB in Omagh, Co Tyrone organised something different recently in the form of an Arena Eventing Competition which is a mixture of showjumping and working hunter/cross country at Ecclesville, Fintona outdoor on a beautiful sunny autumn day.

Thanks to everyone who came along to compete and well done to all.  Thanks to the very kind sponsors Judy Maxwell from Baileys Horse Feeds and Sean Cooney, Botanica International Ltd. Thanks to Raymond Caldwell for course building, Pamela Caldwell judging, Natasha Gilchrist entries & Lucin da Blakiston-Houston & Ann Regan call up/gate and AJS Event Catering. Alison Parkes had a very successful day, jumping double clear in the 70cm with her horse Harry and double clear in the 90cm with her other horse George and drawing 1^st place in the 90cm.  Seskinore Harriers Pony Club member Fergal McKinney & the lovely Connemara Crossowen T immy jumped clear all the way in both the 80cm and 90cm classes and drew 1^st place in the 80cm. Moorlough Riding Club were well represented with Gillian Leitch and Skye jumping faultless rounds in the 80cm and 90cm.  Darren Preston had a busy show with 3 horses competing and jumping double clear in the 90cm with Cobo, then being the only double clear in the metre class with Spoonie and this combination were also double clear  in the 1’10. Sisters Laura and Jane Early also earned their red rosettes by jumping double clear with their horses Pilgrim’s Promise  and Ginger Snap in the 90cm class.   Results 70cm double clears Monkey & Liz Wilson (drew 1^st), Harry & Alison Parkes 80cm double clears Crossowen Timmy & Fergal McKinney (drew 1^st), Just Ruby & Bronagh McCormick, Skye & Gillian Leitch 90cm double clears Ginger Snap & Jane Early, Pilgrim’s Promise & Louise Early, George & Alison Parkes (drew 1^st), Belle & Rachel McGinn, Skye & Gillian Leitch, Cobo & Darren Preston, Crossowen Timmy & Fergal McKinney, Jimmy & Jayne Patterson 1 metre double clear Spoonie & Darren Preston 1’10 double clears Jimmy & Jayne Patterson (drew 1^st), Spoonie & Darren Preston Members are reminded their annual membership is due on or before Thursday 17^th October.  The AGM is planned for 8pm on this date in the RDA, Arvalee, Omagh.  Everyone is very welcome to come along & refreshments will be served after the meeting.  New members aged 18+ are very welcome to join.  The Dolly Mixture Shield will be awarded to the member who has attended the most riding club events through the year.
