The Weekend Starts at Connell Hill

With the first week of this school term over Connell Hills’ Friday night Training Show saw not only a large turn out of competitors to jump but also family and friends cheering and applauding from the packed viewing gallery.  As there is a considerable change to the day light hours this is the ideal indoor venue to come along to and jump a course of fences designed to school and train both rider and horse.  The night started with the 50 cm class which saw Katie Bamford on ‘Darcy’, Toni Stewart on ‘Fizz’, Alex Byrne on ‘Willow’ Jodie Creighton on ‘Sonny’ and Ellie McDonald on ‘Sugartime’ and ‘Sonny’ all jump clear rounds.  Aspiring young athletes are Oliver Doherty on his super pony ‘Bella’ and Naomi McCavana on ‘Molly’ as they jumped double clears in the 60 cm class.  The fences went up for the 70 cm class which amongst the double clears were Chloe Connon on ‘Blondie’, Laura McKay on ‘Darcy’ and Helen Campbell on ‘Dorito’.  Following success in the previous class Katie Stewart on ‘Casanova’ went on to jump double clear in the 80 cm class.  The 90 cm class saw a full house of double clears and to end the family environment night was the 1.0 m class with Katie McKay on ‘Legend’ and Rachel Black on ‘Schuey’ jump double clear rounds.

Training Show for Horses and Ponies continue on Friday nights, at 6.30 pm, 50 cm – 1.10 m classes.

SJI Autumn Horse League Saturday 14^th, 21^st, and 28^th September, 19^th and 26^th October, 2^nd, 9^th, 16^th, 23^rd with final on 30^th November, classes 80 cm – 1.30 am starting at 10.00 am.

SJI Autumn Pony League Sundays 15^th and 22^nd September, 6^th and 13^th October with Final on 27^th October, all the usual classes starting at 10.00 am.

£1,000 Indoor Derby League on Sunday 29^th September, Saturday 12^th October with Final on Sunday 3^rd November at 10.00 am.  Competitors must compete at 1 league date to qualify for final.
