Limerick Harriers Point to Point Sun 27th October JT McNamara Fund
The Limerick Harriers are organizing a special point to point in aid of the JT McNamara Fund at their course in Lemonfield near Limerick by kind permission of the Mulcaire Family. JT suffered a very serious injury at Cheltenham when his horse fell at the first in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup. .In addition to being champion point to point jockey six times, he has ridden well over six hundred point to point winners and over a hundred on the track. He is now in the spinal unit of the Mater Hospital in Dublin.
The McNamara family have long and close associations with the Limerick Harriers with JT’s father and brother being Master and Huntsman respectively.
All proceeds from the meeting will go directly to the fund with all the normal costs of staging being sponsored by friends and supporters of the injured jockey.
It is expected that the point to point will be one of the biggest ever staged in Limerick or indeed elsewhere and will afford an opportunity for his many friends and fans to show their support in a very practical way. Among the other fund raisers will be the auction of a point to point fence between races. Race tickets at €10 are already available and are selling well. In addition advertisements are being sought for the race card.
This will be followed by a Night of Food and Fun for JT in Dunraven Arms. This will include an auction of many sponsored gifts to the fund.
A launch will take place on Thursday September 5th in Dunraven Arms Adare at 8pm with Tom Busteed in the chair. Among those on the panel will be Ted Walsh, Peter Curling, Derek O’Connor and John Hayes. All are welcome with light refreshments being served. Further enquiries should be directed to Peter Power on 086 8335544 or Marie Wheeler on 087 9595253.
