Autumn Schedule Announced for Strule Valley

STRULE VALLEY RIDING CLUB in Omagh, Co Tyrone have planned their autumn schedule commencing with flatwork training with Mandi King at the RDA, Omagh for 3 weeks.

An Arena Eventing Competition will take place on Saturday 14th September at Ecclesville, Fintona starting at 10am with the 70cm class, followed by 80cm, 90cm, 1 metre & 1’10. This will take place outdoors & is open to everyone, members & non-members. There will be rosettes for double clears & double clears will come in at the end of each class to draw for 1st place which will be either a bag of feed or Botanica 5 in 1 spray very kindly sponsored by Baileys Horse Feeds & Botanic International Ltd. For those that aren’t sure what Arena Eventing is, it will be 6 showjumps followed by 6 working hunter/cross country type fences. So come along & try something different!

October sees Pip McKee return to take members for further flatwork training at Ecclesville then Mandi King will resume her training with members at the end of October for some polework training. The Annual General Meeting is planned for Thursday 17th October at the RDA commencing at 8pm. Everyone is invited to come along & a cup of tea/coffee will be served at the close of the meeting. The Dolly Mixture Shield will be awarded to the member who has attended the most riding club events throughout the year. Members are reminded that annual membership is due by this date & new members are very welcome to join & should be 18years+.

During the month of November members will continue their training with Mandi King at Ecclesville, this time in gridwork & showjumping. The Club had a very successful summer; the team of George & Alison Donnell, Golden Grove & Karen Glendinning, Nickel Coin & Hazel Pearson & Tirconnail Well Done & Laura Glendinning competed at the Northern Ireland Riding Clubs Team Showjumping Championships in June at The Meadows Equestrian Centre in Lurgan & were placed a creditable 5th place out of 9 teams. Nickel Coin & Hazel Pearson also competed in the Senior Novice Individual Class & took 3rd place out of a very competitive class. Golden Grove & Karen Glendinning, George & Alison Donnell & Tirconnail Well Done & Laura Glendinning also qualified for the Riding Club Showjumper of the Year final @ at The Meadows Equestrian Centre in Lurgan in August; with all 3 being placed – Golden Grove & Karen Glendinning were placed 3rd in the Senior Novice class, George & Alison Donnell 4th in the same class & Tirconnail Well Done & Laura Glendinning 5th in the Senior Open class. Very well done to all!
