THE ‘REBEL’ RUNS AWAY AT CONNELL HILL
The Training Shows at Connell Hill are becoming more successful for riders and horses as advice, help and guidance is on hand to assist with training, confidence building and improving riding skills. Riders of all ages and abilities can jump in this relaxed, friendly and safety conscious environment. The show commenced with a busy 50 cm class which saw Rhiannon Loughran on ‘Dirraw Sahara’ and Maeve Carlin on ‘Sparky’ jump clear rounds as their talent evolves. Gaining confidence Rhiannon Loughran on ‘Dirraw Sahara’ then went on to jump a double clear in the 60 cm class with Bethany Gordon on ‘Dunshane’, Cara McGoldrich on ‘Biscuit’, Lorraine Frizzell on ‘Sapphire’, Naomi McCavana on her super pony ‘Molly’ all jumping double clears. A young man who will go forward is Oliver Doherty as he jumped double clears in the 60 and 70 cm classes on ‘Bella’. Natasha Henderson on ‘Elf Queen’ jumped double in the 70 cm with Beth Boone on ‘Polly’ who then went on to jump double clear in the 80 cm class. The 80 cm class saw Nieve Baker on ‘Clyde’ Take another red rosette back to Herts with Morgan Skillen on ‘Mayo’ also pick up a red. Jodie Creighton on ‘Oopy’ jumped the only double clear in the 90 cm class and the last class of the night, the 1.0 m class, saw Christine Newton take control and jump a superb double clear on ‘Runaway Rebel’.
Training Show for Horses and Ponies continue on Friday nights, at 6.30 pm, 50 cm – 1.10 m classes where everyone is welcome to come along and socialise with a hot snack, tea/coffee/soft drink from the cafe. Ulster Region Grand Prix Horse Show on Saturday 24th August at 10.00 am, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m, this show is kindly sponsored by Arthur McEvoy Shavings, Banbridge and promises to be a great day of jumping before the SJI shows commencing on Saturday 7th September.
Working Hunter Show for Ponies and Horses on Monday 26th August. Ponies start at 9.30 am, classes – Cradle Stakes, Starter Stakes, Small M & M up to 138 cm, 133 cm Working Hunter Pony, Large M & M over 138 cm, 143 cm Working Hunter Pony, 153 cm Working Hunter Horse, Horses start at approximately 2.00 pm, 4 year olds, Novice Horse, Small Working Hunter Horse and Open Working Hunter Horse. This is an ideal family day out before school term starts.
Dressage Show Day on Saturday 31st August at 10.00 am, Class 1 – Intro A (2008), Class 2 – Prelim 7 (2002), Class 3 – Prelim 18 (2002), Class 4 – Novice 37 (2007), Class 5 Elementary 57 (2007), entries to Grace on 07765 8842 54 on or before Thursday 29th August, times by text to Grace Friday 30th 7.00 – 9.00 pm.
