What’s a Penny worth at Connell Hill

Connell Hill saw a large number of competitors turn out to jump a colourful course of fences at the Friday night training show. These training shows are not only aimed at introducing the young/novice horse to their future career as show jumpers but also new riders improving their riding skills by getting the aid, help and guidance that is hands on in a relaxed friendly environment.
The evening started with the 50 cm class which saw Joanne Booth on ‘Rainbows Promise’ and Ryan Hopper on ‘Ned’, both young horses enjoying their experience of jumping a course of fences, jump clear rounds, with Toni Stewart, a dedicated young athlete of the future, on ‘Fizz’ elegantly jump clear.
Two future stars are Oliver Doherty on ‘Bella’ and Naomi Cavana on ‘Molly’ as they jumped double clear rounds in the 60 cm class. The 70 cm class saw Natasha Henderson on ‘Elf Queen’ take the red rosette. With a bright future ahead Beth Boone on ‘Polly’ jumped a double clear in the 80 cm class as did Leanne Nesbitt on ‘Vera’.
With the fences going up for the 90 cm class the double clear rounds were Debbie McClean on ‘Chance’ and Katie McKay on ‘Legend’. The last class of the evening was the 1.0 m class which saw stylishly and professional ridden double clears by Catherine Cameron on ‘Penny’ and Sarah McConnell on ‘Ronnie’.
