‘Stars’ at Connell Hill
This long overdue Mediterranean weather is hitting us all by surprise but Connell Hill takes care by offering competitors the opportunity of warming up outdoors and jumping in the cool of the indoor arena. Competitors jumping regularly at Connell Hill had huge success attending the National Balmorals Championships, well done to everyone. Paul Humphries on ‘Languish Lu Lu’ started the show with a super double clear in the 80 cm class with Ian Moore on ‘Femme Fatale’ and Caitlin O’Kane on ‘Castlenavan Dunoffee’ also jumping double clear and then going on to jump double clear in the 90 cm class. The course of fences for the 1.0 m class testing riding skills and ability saw Zoe Woods jump double clear on ‘Goodlux’ and ‘My Way Or The Highway’. As the 1.10 m class started the high heat of the mid afternoon did not appear to be a factor as competitors set their sights on not only double clears but in record time and taking first place was Anthea Moffett on ‘Pumba S’ with Rhona Wilkinson picking up second place on ‘Rosevale Spirit’. Taking first place with a double clear in the 1.20 m class was Erin Faloona on Beth Armstrongs’ ‘Orchard Echo’.
The final of this SJI Horse League is on Thursday 25th July, classes 80 cm – 1.30 m, starting at 10.00 am.
