Caroline Donnelly of Camara Designs on Art and horses
Quick interview with Caroline Donnelly of Camara Designs…
How long have you been painting and drawing horses?
I first started painting horses when I was a little girl- the chubby carton type but I really starting to focus on them when I was studying for my GCSEs (they were a focal point in GCSE and A level Art exams). After I finished school I started to paint them part time while at uni.. So I have now been painting them for 7 years (or forever lol)!
What is your favourite equine expression and why?
My favourite Equine expression to capture would be the eyes- at rest/ play or work. They are so unique (like a humans eyes- they give character) and you can really tell if a horse is happy or sad by looking in their innocent eyes! I also love action shots- jumping or simply in the ring!
What is your favourite discipline?
My favourite discipline was always eventing- I was hopeless at Dressage but I loved Cross Country more than anything. I then stuck to the show jumping to prevent embarrassment I then spent a stint in America with a Karen O’Connor pupil- Miss Rebecca Simmons who is the next big thing to watch.. She even tried to straighten out my dressage skills or lack of!!
Can you tell us a little about your horse?
I have my own horse- Blackie aka Rushin Gold and try to ride and compete as much as possible. He was trained by Mrs Toni Donnelly who is a Champion in the Working Hunter ring!!
