Castlewellan Show Is Open For Entries
Castlewellan Show is now open for entries across over 300 classes for cattle, horses, goats, pigs, sheep, poultry, dog agility and home industries with a deadline of June 19th. Show Day is on Saturday 13th July. There is a brand new website, aimed at families, with a kid’s zone as well as the ability to download schedules and entry forms at www.castlewellanshow.com The Show already has a good presence on social media on facebook and twitter with over 5000 followers.
Castlewellan continues to attract large numbers of horses, ranging from miniature to agricultural horses with classes and qualifiers throughout the day for Non Thoroughbred, Half Bred, Irish draughts, hunters, ponies and donkey classes. World renowned Coolmore Stud is sponsoring this year’s Search for A Star Young Horse 
Championship with Scotland’s Elizabeth Boon judging and a prize fund of £2000. Red Mills continues as a key supporter in the pony section with a range of classes in working hunter and in hand showing. Jumping will continue into the evening with classes for ridden hunters sponsored by P Turley & Sons and working hunters sponsored by Burrendale Hotel, Fresh Foods and First Trust. Slaney Park Stud has weighed in behind the Champion Brood Mare, with Botanica Cream International covering the Young Horse and Carlisle Fuels once more supporting Champion of Champions. Agricultural classes are supported by Mid Down NFU Mutual and the Clydesdales always have graceful presence with an opportunity to gain points towards the NISA Championship. The Bailey’s Filly Championship section always attracts a strong field as does the Brood Mare Premium Class with TS Foods and Non Thoroughbred Young Stock with support from Mountvale Developments. Once again Mossvale Riding Club will facilitate a range of classes in the unaffiliated show jumping and entry is on the day. The popular Driving & Hackney competitions will be supported by Wadsworth.
