Splaine Confirms Team for La Baule Nations’ Cup Clash
IRELAND’S show jumping manager Robert Splaine has this evening (Thursday) confirmed the jumping order of his team for Friday’s initial clash in the 2013 Furusiyya Nations’ Cup Series.
Ireland, who last year finished third in the world series, will line out in France tomorrow as third of eight teams, which include The Netherlands, Spain, Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and France.
The jumping order for the Irish team will be:
Shane Sweetnam/Amaretto Darco
Shane Breen/Balloon
Shane Carey/Ballymore Eustace
Billy Twomey/Tinka’s Serenade
Splaine commented: “Because of the new rules this year in the Furusiyya Nations Cup series, instead of eight competitions Ireland, like other countries, will have only four competitions in which they can gain points at the top level. Therefore it is very important that our strongest horse and rider combinations are available for these vital dates.
“The Nations’ Cups where we can collect points are here at La Baule, then at St. Gallen in Switzerland, Aachen in Germany and finally at Dublin.”
The La Baule Nations’ Cup will be a two-round competition and starts at 12.55pm Irish time on Friday. Live video coverage is available on www.feitv.org
