STRULE VALLEY RIDING CLUB

The Annual General Meeting will take place straight after the demo at approximately 8pm.  The Dolly Mixture Shield will be awarded to the member who has attended the most riding club events/lessons throughout the year.  Again everyone is very welcome to attend.

Members continue their lessons this month with Mandi King in the form of polework.  Please book with Alison if interested.  A ride from Gortnagarn to Gortin is also planned for Saturday 10^th October as part of the newly formed ‘Join us Up’.

Dressage training with Dale Roberts is planned for the start of November.  This is also open to members of other riding clubs, so if interested please book with Alison.  Gridwork training with Mandi King is on the schedule for November also.  Again if interested please book with Alison.

New members aged 18+ are very welcome to join & horses must be 4 years+ to come to riding club.  Contact Alison Donnell, Secretary on 82 246652 for a membership form.  Keep up to date with the Club on their facebook page.

Going into the final, Beth Thompson & Mint are leading The AJS Promotions Perpetual Cup 60cm class on full points.  Ahead in The Strule Valley Riding Club Perpetual Cup 70cm class are Beth Thompson & Mint & Elle Trowbridge & Frosty both on full points. Noel Regan & Kallie are in the lead in The LW Surphlis & Son Perpetual Trophy 80cm class on a clean sheet.  2 combinations have full points in The Good Gracious Perpetual Cup 90cm class, Rachel Magee & Dougie & Katie Clarke & Jolene.  In The Omagh Equestrian & Countrywear Perpetual Cup 1 metre open class Rachel Magee & Dougie are out in the lead, but following closely behind in points are Katie Clarke & Jolene.

Beth Thompson & Mint continued their good form jumping double clear in both the 60cm & 70cm classes.  Connor Harris & his lovely schoolmaster Willow jumped double clear in both the 70cm & 80cm classes.  Jenny Torrens had a successful show jumping 3 double clears.  Lucinda Blakiston-Houston & the very nicely schooled Gigi jumped double clear in the 80cm & 90cm classes.  Cousins Katie Clarke & Rachel Magee had a successful night jumping faultless rounds in the 90cm class & Rachel & Dougie went on to win the metre open class with Katie & Jolene close behind in 2^nd place & Zoe & Gemma Elkin jumping very nicely to take 3^rd place.

If your new years resolutions included anything to do with wanting to understand your horses’ needs better this year, then this is the demo for you.

It’s a busy time at Strule Valley as they are also holding an arena eventing competition on Sunday 8th February at 1.30pm.  The course will consist of 6 show jumps followed by 6 cross country type fences.  The venue will be Ecclesville in Fintona and classes include 60cm, 70cm, 80cm, 90cm, and 1m.

Thanks to Raymond Caldwell for building a nice flowing course, Sandra Magee judging, Yvonne Chisholm entries, Pearl Donnell, Emma & Trevor King refreshments in aid of Grovehill Animal Trust, Alison Donnell call up, Alison Parkes, Alan Gilchrist, Neil Somerville & Malvern Moore for assisting in the arena with fences & to anyone else who helped in any way.

Young Matthew Hempton & his super little grey pony Minnie the Minx are continuing their good form by jumping clear in both the 60cm & 70cm classes leaving them the leaders in these 2 classes; jumping for the AJS Promotions Perpetual Cup & the Strule Valley Riding Club Perpetual Cup.

Helen Kelly & Stardust were delighted to pick up a red rosette in both the 60cm & 70cm classes.  Adrian McFarland & Minelli were in fine form jumping double clear in both the 70cm & 80cm classes.  Chloe Nugent & her beautiful dun pony Heather jumped clear all the way in the 70cm & 80cm classes & is following Matthew Hempton closely on the scoreboard in the 70cm class. 

CAFRE Student Natasha Gilchrist & Botera Lad have a clean sheet in the 80cm class which leaves them in the lead in this class & jumping for the LW Surphlis & Son Perpetual Trophy.  The partnership had a successful night; also jumping double clear in the 90cm class.  Following closely behind in the 80cm class is Noel Regan & his very nice young small hunter Beau.

In the Good Gracious Perpetual Cup 90cm class – Clogher Valley Riding Club members Sandra Somerville & Smartie & local farrier John Fee & Sonny are on equal points at this stage leading the class; however one point behind after week 3, are Natasha Gilchrist & Botera Lad & Noel Regan & Beau; so it should be an exciting final night!.

A win for Richard Balfour & Sal in the metre open class has put them out in front in this class; jumping for the Omagh Equestrian & Countrywear Perpetual Cup.  In 2^nd place at the moment in the league points is Amy Hetherington & her lovely bay mare Nadia.

The Fordie Cathers Perpetual Cup will be awarded to the highest placed SVRC member.  Last year’s winner was Noel Regan.
