The best riders in Ireland and their incredible equine partners will be beating a path to Balmoral Park in less than two weeks time for one of the richest show jumping competitions of the year in the Ulster Region.</p>
<p>As well as top level senior show jumping, this year’s revamped schedule boasts a full complement of Pony Show Jumping classes including the Future Stars 50cm Final, Under 8, Over 8 and Under 10 National Discovery League, National Pony League, Springboard Pony Championships and Ulster Region Points Cup, Amateur Dingo and Leddy League, Pony Club Jumps Ahead, Riding Club Championship, Children on Horses and much more.</p>
<p>The headline Grand Prix classes over the championship days at Balmoral are the Bluegrass Summer Tour 1.35m on Monday 14th July, the Horseware/TRM National Grand Prix on Tuesday 15th July and the Horseware/TRM 1.50m Premier Series Grand Prix on Wednesday 16th July. The electrifying sport and intense competition on offer are sure to be a true spectacle for show jumping fans.</p>
<p>“2014 so far has been an extraordinary year for show jumping in Ulster Region and National Balmoral Championships will be no exception”, says Ray Buchanan Show Director. “In 2013 we moved to the stunning Balmoral Park and staged our championships at our new home for the very first time in 27 years of competition. Months of planning and fine tuning have been invested into ensuring the 2014 National Balmoral Championships are the biggest equestrian event in Northern Ireland, with a revamped competition schedule, increased prize fund, top arena conditions, extended shopping village and the introduction of a new hospitality area, which will appeal to a more varied audience of equestrian enthusiasts and show jumping fans. We are all looking forward to the start of the Championships, and to seeing the very best horses/ponies and riders compete in the heart of Northern Ireland.”</p>

Training in the Ulster Region for all levels and ages of competitors<br />
2nd and 3rd February 2013 Ponies and Children on Horses<br />
9th and 10th February 2013 Horse Riders at 90cms to 1.10m level.<br />
23rd and 24th February 2013 Horse Riders 1.20m to 1.30m and beyond.<br />
(Training is open to all SJI members.)</p>
<p>New members to the SJI or seasoned campaigners can benefit from the newly formatted SJI training in the Ulster Region replacing the previous ‘bursary style’ training.<br />
The new format is aimed at supporting and developing your efforts by delivering a positive comprehensive training structure targeted at all levels up to Olympic hopefuls,training is something all top sporting personalities still need,<br />
TO GET BETTER AND BE THE BEST !</p>
<p>These weekend ‘boot camps’ will use top level trainers for flatwork and jumping. Course walks and other important areas will be covered which will improve riders awareness and knowledge .<br />
The trainers for all 3 weekends are Ian Fearon and Heather Coyle<br />
2nd and 3rd February Training weekend will be tailored specifically for pony riders and children on horses.<br />
9th and 10thFebruary Training Weekend will be specifically for riders jumping at 90cm up to 110 level on horses.<br />
23rd and 24th February Training weekend will target riders competing at 1.20m to 1.30m and also grand prix level.<br />
There will be follow up training regularly (once in every quarter of the year).<br />

Weekends training costs £ 55 PER DAY or £95.00 for two days.<br />
ULSTER REGION YOUNG RIDER ASSESSMENT WEEKEND, CONFIRMATION<br />
Young rider assessment weekend will be held on 16th and 17th of February at Mackenzie’s Equestrian Centre, Randalstown.<br />
This weekend is open to SJI Ulster riders over the age of 16 years on 1st January 2013 and who have not attained their 23rd birthday by 1st January 2013<br />
Saturday will be a coaching day and Sunday an assessment day. Both days are compulsory.<br />
Trainers will be Harry Marshall / Gary Marshall<br />
Should there be insufficient numbers to make both days viable to cover costs of coaching and assessment, training and assessment will be consolidated into one day<br />

The top five will qualify for five days of SJI funded training ( i.e. free training) with six of our top show jumping coaches and three flatwork coaches.<br />
