ON Monday, April 29, RDA Coleraine will welcome Dale Roberts, Lucy Adams and Alison Mastin Moore to the Causeway Coast Arena for a dressage demonstration on ‘The Correct Training of the Dressage Horse’.

Together, these riders will take you through the paces and movements from preliminary to Grand Prix dressage. Dale Roberts is influential not only in training dressage horses, but also in eventing, show jumping and showing horses. Dale runs regular flatwork clinics at the RDA Coleraine Arena. He is quick to point out that if horses are really supple for flatwork, they will do a better job when jumping.

Dale worked as a rider and assistant trainer with Ferdi Eilberg for several years, managing Ferdi’s yard, teaching students and training horses belonging to clients, such as Mary King and William Fox Pitt.

Alison Mastin Moore is a full-time Coach specialising mainly in Dressage. She is a List One Dressage Judge in Great Britain and Ireland and a Past FEI ‘0’ Paralympic Judge. In 1996, Alison was awarded the prestigious Churchhill Travelling Scholarship to study the training of a Dressage horse, rider and Judges in Germany.

Lucy Adams is an accomplished rider and trainer. She went to the world-renowned Tallant School of Equitation to train for the BHSII exam. She competes regularly up to Grand Prix level and judges dressage.

The demonstration will start promptly at 7.30pm and cost of event £10 per person, children under 16 £5 each.

Flexalan Horse and Pony Festival

On May 4, RDA Coleraine will be hosting an equestrian festival for all the family. The main event on the day will be the Inter-Venue Tour Final (9.30am start). This will take place indoors at Causeway Coast arena.

Weather permitting, running alongside this event will be Pony Show Jumping, with classes 60cm to 110cm, 10am start; Showing Classes, 10am start, and a Fun Dog Show, 11am start.
