Sunday 14th July a glorious sunny day for the third leg of the Laurel View Summer Dressage League. For the second occasion in the league competitors were permitted to dispense with their jackets to stop them from getting hot under the collar.

The competition as well as the temperature was hot in the indoor arena. Kelly Kerr judged the BD Intro B test and when the scores were totted up Therese Ritson and Scottie emerged as the winners with Lucy Telford on Ollie in second place.

Kelly was also tasked with scoring the Newcomer class and riding Prelim 7 best on the day was Sheryl McBride and Orage Sauvage. Kenzi Potter and Drummena Hill earned the blue rosette for the newcomer class.

In Class 4 “Joshi J” and Amy Neill pick up their first red rosette together.

Looking over the talent trotting out in Class 3 was Laurel Faloona whose marking of Prelim 13 resulted in Sylvia Henry and Mossbrook Ferrelle winning the red rosette. Second prize was awarded to Jamaica and Vicky Slater.

Class 4 competitors rode Prelim 18 in front of Jenny and Billy Hill and taking the top spot after the marks were collated was Amy Neill and Joshi J. The runner up position went to Kristine Lynch on Laurel Hill Evie.

Novice 30 was the test to test Class 5 competitors under the expert eye of Angelene Nicholson, highest points on the day went to Tifftarney Clyde ridden by Wendy Forsythe, with a second going to Cherryhill Rose and Jenny Hill.

The Open class scoresheets from Angelene were the last of the day to be calculated and it soon became clear that Rosie Alcorn and Fiorella had had a particularly good day at the office, with a first for their Novice test and a second for their Elementary.

Newcomers win goes to Shelley McBride and “Orage Sauvage”

Hopefully exposure to the sunlight did not affect the performance of the Equi-Tog photographer as he captured the competitors in their best light.

August 18th is the next dressage league date which will hopefully see another great crowd at Laurel View trying to better their scores and chances. For full schedule details and information on all the Laurel View activities and competitions check out www.laurelview.co.uk or if it is your preference give the office a ring on 028 9083 0649.

What a scorcher! It was so gorgeous at Laurel View on the 9th June that judges permitted riders to dispense with their jackets and protocol while riding their dressage tests.

A successful day for those who could keep their cool in the arena. Simon Wylie and Laurel View Cindy took the top spot in the walk/trot test, with Kirsty Marsden riding Tiger Lilly in her first test second. This class was adjudicated by Laurel Faloona.

Fran Warden judged the Newcomers class to find her winner in Angela Hutchinson and Murphy, Katherine Hall and McCracken were not far behind in second.

Best foot forward for Mr Bingley and Jennifer McCann

Class 3 competitors rode the Prelim 12 test in front of Will McAuley. Taking the top spot with a fantastic score was Sylvia Henry on Mossbrook Ferrelle. Janene Gamble and Lenamore Master Maguire finished in second place with another score to be very proud off.

It was up to Ivor Harper to judge both Class 4 and 5. In Class 4 Tara O’Connell and Graf Pepsi Max gave the best performance of Prelim 14, Amy Neill and Joshi J were very happy with their blue rosette.

Ivor’s scores declared that Lauren Court and Melton were top of the Novice class, with Patricia Hanna and Millow Hollow Cool Man taking the second place.

Last but by no means least was the Open class which was judged by Angelene Nicholson and when the points were totted up the red rosette was earned by Ardenza Gem and Elaine Morrow for their Elementary test. Allan Dewhurst and Isaac came second on the day, also riding the Elementary test.

Best foot forward for Mr Bingley and Jennifer McCann

Would it be too much to ask the weather to stick around for the next round of the league on the 14th July? Who knows, but a warm welcome is assured all the same for all who wish to enter before noon on Thursday 11th July.

Photographer Tom from Equi-Tog perseveres despite the diverse weather conditions that Laurel View is exposed to.

Full details of this league and the range of activities and training on offer at Laurel View are included on the website at www.laurelview.co.uk or if you like the personal touch give us a ring on 028 9083 0649.
