Cavan Equestrian Centre’s Performance Horse & Pony sale on Tuesday 16^th June saw a very lively sale and with a definite rise upward in demand which is surely a welcome picture for the future!

Many overseas buyers including Sweden, Belgium, France, England and Scotland along with the many home grown buyers from North and South helped to achieve a fantastic 77% clearance.  Many regular buyers were in attendance and it was encouraging to see the many new visitors who all had an enjoyable experience.

Cavan Horse Sales next sale is in August which is an International Performance and Premier 3 Year Old Sale. Lot 95 – €4,500

The Cavan International Horse & Pony April Sale on Tuesday 21^st & Wednesday 22^nd experienced an unprecedented 82% clearance rate and surely shows evidence that the ‘buyer is back in the market’

The sales were very brisk with bids coming fast and furious and with many animals changing hands at a very speedy pace.  As soon as the Lots entered the sales ring it seemed the many punters were ready to start making their bids before the Lot could make its first circuit around the ring.

A strong European influence was in attendance with buyers from Sweden, Belgium and France who battled with formidable clients from Scotland, England, Wales and of course the homegrown buyer was also extremely well represented.

The Cavan International Horse & Pony April Sale on Tuesday 22^nd and Wednesday 23^rd experienced a massive 69% turnover of the performance horses and ponies that were on offer with some making it as far afield as the USA.

Vendors were thrilled with the some of the fantastic prices their lots reached, while existing and new clients were kept on their toes during the sale, bidding for their desired lots.  Buyers from all over were in attendance with the UK and Europe being very well represented in the buying stakes as well as quite a number of Lots staying on home soil.

A brisk sale continued over the two days with some excellent prices being achieved for some very desirable Lots.  Some other top prices can be found below.

A busy two days of trading at the International Performance sale saw regular buyers joining new clients to help bring the average price up which can only be a hopeful sign for the industry.  Active bidding on the many lots on offer by these buyers who surely made their presence felt and helped the vendors achieve very attractive prices.

Cavan Horse Sales celebrates 20 years of sales in 2014 and wish to thank all our supporters over the years for keeping Cavan on the calendar and making it a principal venue for horse sales.  Monday March 4^th will be a busy day starting off with the Registered Connemara sale at 10am which will include all ages of the breed from yearlings to riding and jumping ponies.  This will be followed by the National Registered Irish Draught Sale at 12.30pm again with all ages of the breed.  The last sale of the day will be the Young Stock Sport Horse Sale which begins at 2.30pm and includes yearlings, 2yo’s and broodmares and includes a 2 Year Old, Cruising colt and also includes progeny of Hold Up Premier, Pacino, Arkan, Ard VDL Douglas, etc. With 100 entries catalogued over the day it promises an excellent selection to choose from for the savvy buyer.  With the extremely wet winter a distant memory and the weather starting to improve it is surely a bonus time of year for purchasers to acquire young stock.

The International Performance Sale catalogue for the sale on Tuesday 5^th & Wednesday 6^th is chock-full of horses and ponies 3 years old and upwards which are suitable for show jumping, eventing, hunting, dressage, pleasure riding, etc.  With the season getting under way now is the time to pick up a new horse or pony to produce or to bring on further.
