Cerys “Runs Away” with Indoor Eventing Prizes

It was a night to remember for Cerys Howell and her collection of ponies as she scooped the top placings in two out of the four classes at the Pegus Indoor Eventing final held at Gransha EC on Tuesday 5^th March. Runaway Dolly fought off stiff competition in the HorseWorld NI 1m class, while Cerys took 1^st and 2^nd places in the HorseWorld NI 90cm class with Joe from Raphoe and Captain Morgan. Stella Black and her very consistent chestnut pony “Prince” took the honours in the junior section of the Pegus 70cm class when they delivered two foot perfect jumping rounds. The Pegus 80cm class also proved to be very competitive amongst the junior riders with Niamh Martin narrowly missing out of the top spot with her lovely grey pony “Taste the Rainbow.” First place went to the very determined William Girvin and Sequin, they were delighted to take home one of the very sought after Pegus jackets for first prize.

Albert Lowry won the senior section of the Pegus 80cm class with a text book jump-off round onboard his attractive bay horse “Dear Oh.” Albert attended all nine weeks of this league and always turned himself and his horse out to perfection, he too was delighted with his Pegus jacket for first place. There was serious competition amongst the senior riders in the Pegus 70cm class and in the end it was Norma Ferguson and Chikko Time who came out on top. Nicole Barr and her very reliable grey horse “DJ” took the top spot in the senior section of the HorseWorld NI 1m class as they clocked the quickest time of the night against the other horses. Winners in these two bigger classes went home with beautifully embroidered rugs and saddle cloths courtesy of HorseWorld NI.

Prizes galore at Pegus Indoor Eventing League

As the indoor eventing league at Gransha Equestrian Centre draws to a close our junior and senior riders are gearing up to win the excellent prizes supplied by our very generous sponsors, Pegus Horse Feeds and HorseWorld NI. Winners of the 70 and 80cm classes will be awarded a Pegus jacket while the winners of the 90cm and 1m classes will walk away with a HorseWorld NI cooler rug.

Winning the complimentary bag of Pegus horse feed in the 70cm class this week was Brianny Hamilton on Jumping Dale Jazz while in the 80cm class the voucher was awarded to Cerys Howell and Miss Money Penny. Cerys went on to win the HorseWorld NI voucher in the 90cm class while Nicole Barr on DJ won the voucher in the HorseWorld NI 1m class.

Competitors are reminded that they must compete in 4 out of the 8 weeks to be eligible to compete for prizes at the final which takes place on Tuesday 5th March.

Juniors on Top Form at Pegus Indoor Eventing

Pony riders William Girvin, Stella Black, Ashley Saunderson, Niamh Martin and Cerys Howell are going from strength to strength every week as they navigate their ponies around the 18 fences that make up this indoor eventing course. With only two qualifying weeks remaining the bar has been raised as these junior riders battle their way to the final night in an effort to take away the prestigious Pegus jackets that are on offer for the best junior in the 70 cm and 80cm classes.

Cerys Howell and Charlotte McFarland continue to fly the flag for the young riders in the HorseWorld NI 90cm class as they put in accurate rounds with no faults, while our senior riders Nicole Barr, Lynne Ireland-Tennis and Natasha Moore dominate the 1m class. Beautifully embroidered rugs and saddle cloths are up for grabs in these two bigger classes, supplied by our very generous sponsors HorseWorld NI.
