In the 70cm class a total of 12 seniors tackled the course consisting of 22 obstacles.   First place went to one of our longest serving livery horses ‘Madison Diamond’ owned by Norma Crooks and ridden by Paulene Foster.  This teenager still comes out with a spring in her step and proves that she is as capable as the younger horses by winning this class two weeks in a row.  Settling for 2nd place was Amanda Dempsey with Archie.  Lindsey McMullan and Lady also jumped two great rounds but had a slightly slower time putting them into 3rd place.  4th was awarded to Debbie Rush with Archy while Kate Robinson and Harry took 5th.  Caitlin McKechnie with Fat Boy produced a smooth round leaving them in the lead in the junior section.</p>
<p><a href="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/IMG_1856.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-801336" alt="Gransha Equestrian Centre" src="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/IMG_1856-300x225.jpg" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>A very competitive 80cm class saw Joanne Cairns and Apache come out on top, with Michelle McConnell and Bob in 2nd and Rachel Irwin with Camiro in 3rd.  Claire Forsyth took 4th place with her lovely bay horse Sky Shadow.  Winning the junior category was Katie McKee with Dougle, a close 2nd was Charlotte Rogers and Molly and slotting into 3rd was Regan McKee and Cleo. <a href="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/gransha11.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-801337" alt="Gransha Equestrian Centre" src="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/gransha11-300x225.jpg" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Going solo in the over 50s class was Valerie McKie and her lovely steel grey mare ‘Song of Sixpence.’  They produced a very polished round and took home a red rosette.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/IMG_18611.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-801338" alt="Gransha Equestrian Centre" src="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/IMG_18611-300x225.jpg" width="300" height="225" /></a>Michael Burges with Maggie rode a very determined round in the 90cm class to win the junior section.  Meanwhile the senior section winner was Aaron Brown with Isis, 2nd went to Chloe Burges with Olga and 3rd was Katie Johnson and Zeus.  Hulabaloo ridden by Kathryn Quee slotted into 4th place.  Winning the senior section of the 1m class was Shannon Hiscutt with Milly while Regan McKee jumped a faultless round on Willow to win the junior section.  The last remaining dates for these derbys are Sunday 21st and 28th June.  Check out the website for more summer events at www.granshaequestrian.co.uk.</p>

<p><b></b>No one can dispute that Claire Dobbin and Louie were the deserving winners of Laurel Views 60cm Indoor Derby League, having won the red ribbon every time they entered the derby this winter.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>If Christine Murray and Holiday Candle Light had got into the swing of the Derby earlier in the Winter they would have been strong contenders for the 70cm league takings winning the February and March competitions. But the league honours and top cash prize went to Susan Sloan and Tamni Blue.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<div id="attachment_762058" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/L-V-3-1.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-762058" alt="Skylark Express and Kathy Delargy metre league winners." src="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/L-V-3-1-300x246.jpg" width="300" height="246" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Skylark Express and Kathy Delargy metre league winners.</p></div>
<p>Sloans kept it in the family with Laura and Quida taking home the top rosette and monies for the 85cm league.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Topping the metre class at the end of the league and going home with bulging pockets was Kathy Delargy and Skylark Express, who had already collected her second place winnings for the 85cm class.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Things are still jumping at Laurel View, with the popular Pounds for Points Show Jumping League continuing on Wednesday evenings at 6pm up until 29th April.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Then on Sunday 31st May, something a little different, Just Jumping, cashback for clear, winner goes free! Some terms and conditions apply but come along and give it a go, commencing at noon with 45cm.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<div id="attachment_762055" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 267px"><a href="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/L-V-4-1.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-762055" alt="Quids in for Quida and Laura Sloan over 85cm." src="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/L-V-4-1-257x300.jpg" width="257" height="300" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Quids in for Quida and Laura Sloan over 85cm.</p></div>

<p style="text-align: left;" align="center">Connell Hill held the final of the £1,000 Indoor Derby Show on Sunday 9th November, this ever popular Indoor Derby Show was sponsored by Judy Maxwell, Baileys Horse Feeds and Trevor McClelland, Doagh Farm Feeds.  Competitors oozing excitement walked the course which was a combination of show jumping, working hunter, portable cross country and special effect fences, and warmed up in the very spacious outdoor arena in preparation for their qualifying challenges.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<div id="attachment_693186" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/IMG_20141109_133448.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-693186" alt="Left to right Joanne Nevin on Spitting Diamond 2nd Peadar McLaughlin on Murphy 1st in 80 cm class" src="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/IMG_20141109_133448-300x225.jpg" width="300" height="225" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Left to right Joanne Nevin on Spitting Diamond 2nd Peadar McLaughlin on Murphy 1st in 80 cm class</p></div>
<p>This fun filled competitive day commenced with the 60 cm class which saw some action packed rounds of jumping with Jodie Creighton, following on from her successful win at ‘Hoys’ take the first honours of the day winning first place on ‘Monarch’ and with a tremendous round Chloe Connon took second on ‘Turbo’ with Adam Sossick, on the well know ‘Loughview Sweet Delight’ taking third.  The adventure lap of honour then stimulated the urge for winning as the course was set for the 70 cm class which true to form was once again non other than Jodie Creighton on ‘Monarch’ and showing no trouble taking second was Simone Leathem on ‘Little Miss Trouble’ with Lindsey Cameron close on her heels taking a most deservedly third on ‘Jess’.</p>
<div id="attachment_693187" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/IMG_20141109_133600.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-693187" alt="Prize winners in 80 cm class" src="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/IMG_20141109_133600-300x225.jpg" width="300" height="225" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Prize winners in 80 cm class</p></div>
<p>This well received track, designed by Julie McLernon, then moved to the 80 cm class which saw, breaking no laws, Peadar McLaughlin on ‘Murphy’ stand in poll position and with whisker splitting seconds Joanne Nevin on her ‘soul mate’ ‘Spitting Diamond’ taking second and Charlotte Wylie third on ‘Holly’.  This electrifying show saw competitors give it their all and go for it just to get their hands on the topnotch prizes sponsored by Baileys Horse Feeds and Doagh Farm Feeds.  The 90 cm class then saw Joanne Jarden snatch first place on ‘Bonnie’ and with just sniffing distance Karl Kee took second on ‘Gold Girl’.  The nail biting then began as the 1.0 m class got under way with competitors, grooms and spectators wishing every one good luck which saw Ruth Cousins take the honourable title of winning this Indoor Derby on ‘Wishful Willow’ and Rachel Chapman stand second on ‘Duffy’.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<div id="attachment_693187" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/IMG_20141109_133600.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-693187" alt="Prize winners in 80 cm class" src="http://79.170.44.152/equestriannewsni.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/IMG_20141109_133600-300x225.jpg" width="300" height="225" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Prize winners in 80 cm class</p></div>
<p>Connell Hill would like to thank sponsors Judy Maxwell, Baileys Horse Feeds and Trevor McClelland, Doagh Farm Feeds, Course Designer Julie McLernon, Arena Crew, staff and most of all the Competitors, horses and grooms making this a most exciting show.  We hope everyone enjoyed the experience seeing you all back in the very near future with a host of shows scheduled for the forthcoming weeks.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;" align="center">Twists, turns and triple bars to tease the talented riders at the first leg of the Laurel View Outdoor Derby League on Sunday 5th May.</p>
<p>Plenty of excitement to get the day going in the 60cm class with three sets of jump offs to decide the top six positions.  With clear rounds getting them off to a top start, then a fault free jump off, it was down to speed to put Claire Liddle and French Fort Jackson in the number one spot, leaving a blue rosette for My Blue Eyed Boy and Sasha Wilson.</p>
<p>The seventies didn’t disappoint the adrenaline junkies either.  Four riders pulled out the stops to ride clear over the complex and challenging course. They didn’t pick up their hooves as well over the jump off as none went clear, but Marian Rea and Cracker pulled a red rosette with only four faults, putting her just that little bit ahead off Archie and Lorraine Lyttle.</p>
<p>Upwards and onwards to the 85cm course, again with many of the competitors having to jump off to vie for the colour of their rosette.  Charlotte Leslie and Blue Cobweb, kept it quick and clean to clear the jump off and claim the red.  A little more speedy, but picking up four faults cost Saffy and Laura Marrs the top spot.</p>

<p>Last class of the day saw the course lifted to a metre and it was Loughmourne Diamond and Kirsty Marsden that took the honours, an extra four faults meant Dexter and Shauna O’Connell took home the second place rosette.</p>
<p>Snapping away capturing the competitors concentration was the Equi-Tog photographer who had be contacted via <a href="mailto:info@equi-tog.com">info@equi-tog.com</a></p>
<p>The next league isn’t on the calendar until Sunday 30th June, so who knows, it might even be good enough to get on the grass by then, but to find out whether it is or not keep an eye on facebook.com/laurelview or give the office a ring on 028 9083 0649.</p>
