<p style="text-align: left;" align="center">Ardnacashel held the first of a series of Jump Crosses very kindly sponsored by Botanica on 12th July. With the sun shining, course waiting and ground in fabulous condition both competitors and organisers were looking forward to the day ahead.</p>
<p>The first class of the day was the 70 cm. Riders had to jump a few fences in the arena before jumping out, up the steps to start the cross country. The first competitor of the day was Suzie Rodgers riding Rosie who set the bar high for the others coming home with just a total of 8 faults and had a great time of 39.86 seconds in the last section of the course which was timed! Next up was Siobhan Mulligan riding her super cob Penny who flew round the mixture of portable and permanent cross country fences also only obtaining 8 faults. Following Siobhan was her daughter Olivia Mulligan riding her very versatile pony Riverdale Lad. Olivia and Riverdale Lad were in brilliant form as they were clear all the way and obtained a fast time of 29.29 seconds in the timed section. Claire Dobbin riding Louie was the next competitor to obtain a clear round just a little faster than Olivia with 25.04 seconds on the clock putting her in first place. Other competitiors were not phased by Claire’s speedy round though! Dylan Torrens and Little Miss Trouble made a very worthy attempt to beat the time but just narrowly missed out with a clear round in a time off 26.46 seconds putting this pair into second place. Karena McVeigh with her beautifully turned out Cheyenne obtained an unfortunate 4 faults but in a very speedy 25.21 seconds. The results in this class were Claire Dobbin and Louie in first place, Dylan Torrens in a close second position, Olivia Mulligan and Riverdale Lad in a well deserved third and Karena McVeigh with Cheyenne in fourth who also won the rug for ‘Best Turned Out’. Very well done to them!</p>
<p>The 85 cm class was next and was split into juniors and seniors as it proved to be very popular amongst the riders. Judith Jackson and James were keen to start the ball rolling in the seniors section by going first and coming home with just an unlucky four faults in a time of 30.99 seconds. The winner of this section was Heather McMillen riding Cullion Fitzherbert who rode clear all the way and in a time of 31.09 seconds. Seamus Rodgers with Cal rode their way into a close second place with a clear round and in a time of 31.69 seconds! Third was Rachel Rooney riding Autumn who she was brought on brilliantly obtaining a clear round in a time of 33.23 seconds. Kerry Finlay and Bolero had a blast riding into a well-deserved 5th place going clear in 38.25 seconds and Claire Lowe and Dougal gaining sixth place with just an unfortunate four faults but in a quick time of 30.08 seconds.</p>
<p>In the junior section of this class, Emma Heaney set the pace with Quickstep coming home in a time of 36.26 seconds. Emily McGowan riding Scott came in just behind in a time of 37.43 seconds. In third place was Georgia Kirkwood on her pony Tia Maria. Regan McKee and Clio were next in the line-up gaining 4th place in a very fast time of 29.24 seconds but with an unfortunate eight faults and Ellie Dickson riding Pinecroft Bergamo received fifth place in a time of 33.55 seconds and eight faults.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>In the final class of the day which was the 1 meter class, four determined competitors each took turn to blow off some steam round the cross country. Rachel Hughes and Ollie came out on top achieving the only clear round in this class in a time of 31.11 seconds. Leeanne McNamara with Gracie rode into second position with just an unfortunate four faults but in a very quick time of 23.71 seconds! In third place was Claire Lowe riding Dougal who also had four faults in a time of 29.36 seconds. In fourth place came Regan McKee on Willow who rode a very determined round just totalling 12 faults in a time of 31.06 seconds.</p>
<p>Thank you to Jim McConnell for taking the pictures for this event and they are all up on his website. Also a special thank you to Botanica for sponsoring this event and providing the fabulous hampers for the winners of each class!</p>
