Thursday 30th July saw the final of Ardnacashel Equestrian’s Show Jumping League! After eight weeks of jumping, this was what the competitors had been waiting for, the results and of course the fantastic prizes!

Class 4 winner’ image – Caroline Morris and Cavalier Mealough Lass winner of BEFAB Ltd’s 90cm to 1m class

The cross pole to 50 cm class has been sponsored by Tony Heaney Contracts who does a great job at Ardnacashel keeping the five star facilities up to standard for guests and liveries. Thank you to Tony Heaney for his support and hard work! The results (from league points) of this class were as follows. In first place was Anya Teuton riding Starlight. Anya has been one of the most regular and consistent competitors in this league and has always a big grin on her face no matter what the result! There was a rosette for a junior rider who had shown most progression over the league and so Anya was awarded this to go along with her embroidered Ardnacashel Rug, sash and first rosette! Well done to her!

Class 2 winners’ image – Winners of Greenville Electrical Supplies 60 – 70 cm class

In second place in this class was Alice Magill riding her handsome pony Bernie. They have also ridden some fantastic rounds over the course of the league and should be very proud of how they have come on over the past 8 weeks! Finally, Soul- Be Courtney and Starlight jumped their way into third place! Soul-Be and Starlight are a very worthy pair of this result and all three of these competitors will be ones to watch in the near future!

Class 1 winners’ image – Winners of Tony Heaney Contracts cross pole to 50 cm class

Greenville Electrical Supplies sponsored the 60cm – 70 cm class. In first place based on points alone was Jennifer Quinn on her trusty stead Samson. Jennifer has ridden very determined and positive rounds over these eight weeks and the team at Ardnacashel would like to commend her enthusiasm! In joint second position was Gail Smyth and Zara Wood on Max. Gail was on board her ex racehorse Bruno who has come out raring to go each week and Gail has done a fantastic job riding him round the challenging courses each week! Zara is a very talented young rider and has left a lasting impression at Ardnacashel for her ability to hop up onto a young and very green pony and make it look effortless! Lara McComb and Bobby received third place and are a well matched combination, riding the courses with ease each week!

On the night of the final, there were also rosettes for anybody regardless of having points or not for the fastest jump off time. In first place was Sarah Brashaw riding Dan, in second was Zara Wood and Max in third position was Georgie Young and Hollie and fourth was Jackie Walker with Bracken.

Ferndale Boarding Kennels and Doggy Day Care were the kind sponsors of the 70cm – 80 cm class. The results of the points league were Samantha Ross and her lovely horse Cardy Cruise in first position who have been a great pair to watch and have been very sporting and encouraging of other competitors. In second position came Felicity Johnston and Mistletoe who have consistently jumped double clears! Mistletoe must have known it was an important night and showed off his excitement in the arena making Felicity’s job a little more difficult! In third positon came Siobhan Mulligan and Penny who also received the rosette for the senior who has come on the most over the course of the league.

The results for the fastest rounds in the jump off for this class were in first place, Vicky Titterington with Pink Lloyd, in second was Judena Leslie riding Da Vinci, in third came Regan McKee and Clio and Joshua Russell riding Mon Amie rode into fourth!

Saturday 16th August 2014 saw our second Cash Derby on Grass. The course consisted of a mix of cross country, show jump and working hunter fences with lots of twists and turns to test both horse and rider. Ground conditions were perfect and once again we had lots of new faces in attendance to try their luck at winning the cash prizes! First out onto the course was Ruth Wilson on her Grey Home Alone City in the 1m class. The skinny log fence caused several run outs for several of the competitors in this class. Cara Norman on her young mount Two Tone Ventura rode a fabulous round and secured first place and Rachel Hughes on Peter Perfect into second place.

These were the only two clear rounds of the 1m class. The course was adjusted to 85cm and once again the competition commenced. The ditch combination caught a few horses by surprise but not young Cerys Howell on Runaway Dolly and Captain Morgan who went on to secure first and second place.

The damp weather did not deter competitors making their way to Ardnacashel Comber for the Show Jumping Final on Sunday 3rd of August. The sun arrived just in time for the start of the competition. Ground conditions were foot perfect due to the fabulous sand and fibre surface in the main arena affording everyone a surefooted base to compete on. Jasmin Kirkwood drew the winning rosette each time winning both the Cross Pole and the 50 cm classes on her super pony Mattie. They have been a very successful partnership throughout the league. The competition certainly heated up in the 60 cm class seeing a large number of contenders. Debbie McAllister took first place on Monty after a fantastic double clear round. Rozy Corry on Calvyn also continued on their roll of double clears and secured fourth place. Gail Smyth riding Bruno rode a super round in the 70 cm class and went on to win the class. The 80 cm class was hotly contested and it came down to the jump off speed round with Sharon Lappin on her lovely mare Tori taking first place. William Girvin on Milo rode brilliantly and went on to win both the 90 cm and 1 m classes. Chloe Agnew and Michelle McConnell both won the “Best Turned Out” prizes. Thank you and well done to all competitors who took part. Also a very big thank you to all of our sponsors. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our next events, namely, our Cash Derby on Grass on Saturday 16th of August 2014 and also to our Annual Summer Show on Saturday 23rd August 2014 where we will have classes for everyone.
